Does anyone know what material the front fender is made of? I have a large crack on the right side rear attachment point. Before I try to fix it, I need to know what it is made of. Anyone else have any luck at fixing a front fender?

Thanks all!

Had some trouble with my 1997 S3T front fender ...

Got some cracks in the fender where the fork indentations are ...

Took a small drill and drilled a hole at the end of the cracks which stopped them ...

Some of the mounting tabs broke so "i" rebuilt them with a OLD MILWAUKEE BEER can and some model airplane glue ...

Does not sound to good, "BUT" it made the tabs stronger ...

The fender is plastic, not sure of the exact composition, but someone who knows should chime in eventually.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
That was pretty cool video of the road side repair!
Has anyone tried one of the Carbon fiber fenders either from A.S.B or E-Bay?

I have the S2 CF style fender from American Sport Bike on my M2. I think I bought the last one because they haven't been on there soon after I picked mine up...

I dig it. Sturdy.

Pretty sure they are ABS. I repaired my rear mtg tabs with ABS pipe cement and fibre glass cloth. The tabs were broken off.
-Sand the paint off in the repair area.
-Cut a piece of fibre glass cloth to fit the area.
-Swab some cement into the crack and the area around the crack where you sanded off the paint. Put the parts together.
-Lay the fibre glass cloth on the ABS cement. Smooth and work into the cement with your finger.
-Swab another layer of ABS cement over the fibre glass cloth.
-Let harden for a few hours.

I used the same method to repair my S3T saddlebags.

Take the fender to any place that does plastic welding, they should be able to fix you up. I have had two fenders from m2s done. Worked great.

I saw a great how-to (can't find it now) about using Lego's blocks. They are ABS material and are available in many colors. The body piece can be mended with glass cloth on the inside and the remaining crack on the outside can be filled with melted down legos, sanded, painted, polished. For a small repair the lego color may match close with the body part. The lego blocks are melted in Acitone and the melted goo is brushed on with a paint brush or acid brush. If I find the article I'll post a link here. It was complete with nice pictures from start to finish of a repair job to a badly damaged front fairing.
