So, I have oil wicking up along my clutch cable and out through the lever...not much, during my 60 mi commute each way I have a slight mist on my shirt...probably not more than 10 or 15 drops. You guys think this might be because I overfilled the primary, looked good when I filled it, or something more sinister is going on? |

Check for a PINCHED TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE ... With the bike on level ground and up right, the transmission OIL should just touch the BOTTOM of the DIAPHRAGM SPRING ... If when checking the transmission OIL level it is always above the BOTTOM of the DIAPHRAGM SPRING, this is an indication that motor sprocket OIL SEAL has gone bad ... |

Your sure it's from the clutch cable and not a bad fork seal? Unless the breather(transmission) is stopped up, there's no reason for oil to come out off the cable regardless of how full the primary was.IMO |

No, its definetly coming from the cable...I see the drops accumulate at the end of the cover just before it goes into the clutch perch and then subsequently drips on the upper tree, gas tank and onto me...ill check the tranny vent, haven't looked at that in a while...also suspect my seal needs some work too |

Oil up the clutch cable is always always from overfilling in my experience |

Here's another one on the clutch cable ... If the brade'd engine/frame ground strap come's loose the clutch lever will SMOKE as it will be the only engine/frame ground !!! |

Just to close this out...looks like I did just put too much oil in the tranny |

Are you sure you put too much oil in the transmission? If you have a bad crankshaft seal, you can push engine oil into the transmission. Then it will appear that the transmission was overfilled. Keep an eye on your engine oil level to make sure it's not going down. |

Well, I drained the primary and put back only .75 quarts and it seemed to lessen the issue alot, still have a very small amount of but not much. Pretty sure my seal is bad too, and is pressurizing the tranny which is causing the wicking in the first place, but I don't want to split the cases right now. |

You won't have to split the cases to replace the crankshaft seal. Just remove the primary case cover. Not a hard job. Just need the seal install tool to do it easy. The leaking CS seal will only get worse. If you are going to keep riding it anyway, make a catch can for the transmission breather hose or you will end up with oil everywhere. |
