Ok so last thing on the bike is wiring my new headlight switch? It is a simple two wire push on push off. So i have three wires for the headlight -low beam, jogh beam and power. How do i wire this i assume i need a relay so in laman talk what wires go where and what relay do i need?

Normally a switch works up and down which is the way "i" would mount it ...

"i" would get a switch that the center position would be off ...

Push the switch up(HI BEAM) and down (LOW BEAM) !!!

What kind of SW you ask ??? DPDT

What about AMPS ??? IMHO 30A

How do you wire it ???

Center terminal BATTERY(12V) normally a red wire ...

Remaining terminals, one gets the HI BEAM WIRE and the other gets the LOW BEAM WIRE ...

Where do you get said SW, well "i" have had good lock with RADIO SHACK ...

You have three wires, so one high, one low and one neutral. The trick is that for low I think you need both bulbs on and low is low only. So you'll have two switches one turn the light on and off and the other will turn the high beam on and off but needs to be fed from the first switches output. You should have a relay to minimize heat otherwise you'll need a heavy switch to handle the amperage.

The three wires are exactlt what went to the old switch low beam was a constant on when you pushed the switch up the low turned off and the hi turned on simple but thats alot of load for the little switch so in comes the relay to take the load the switch will just trigger the relay to switch from low to high beam i get the technology just not sure which wires go where?
I eliminated all factory switches i will post pics when i am done

if you want to use a relay:
on your switch, run fused power to the common terminal of the switch, and then the 'switched' terminal needs to go to the relay. Typical BOSCH relay terminals are as follows:
85 and 86 - Coil. Either one can be 12V or Ground
30 - the 'common ' terminal. Power to this terminal can exit the relay with two possibilities
87 - this terminal will have power from #30 when the relay is energized (by having power on the coil terminals 85, 86 ) considered normally OPEN
87a - this terminal is called the normally CLOSED terminal. Power will be connected from 30 to 87a when the relay is not energized. I call this terminal 87always, because it's connected until you do something about it. I would run fused power to 30, and the hi beam to 87. You can leave the low beam on fused power, or connect to 87a so it will switch off when you hit the hi-beams

Coxster I do not know if this link will work if not goto the knowledge vault scroll down to manuals then scroll down again to S1 manual if you go into there you can look at everything even the schematics. Any help would be appreciated
