So, I've been taking an 2000 M2 back to stock parts and recently replaced the carb & breadbox and put the stock exhaust system back on. What I notice now is that I loose torque at around 4500 rpm. I have no dyno, but it's pretty remarkable drop. Is this typical? Or is there something wrong in the setup. |

The stock muffler allows my M2 to pull strongly well past 5000 RPM. My Buell Race Muffler was only better at high RPM and I seldom rev it high enough to benefit from it. Check the jetting, mixture screw setting, and shim the needle if necessary to get a good mixture. They were way too lean from the factory and getting the mixture right throughout the range makes a huge difference. |

Air/fuel mix screw @ 2.5 turns out. Double check you main jet size on that carb, you say put stock carb in, does that imply stock jetting? The stock setup has a noticeable drop in power from 3-35/3800 rpms, so I kinda wonder if Jayvee is onto something there. Double check your static timing? |

Littlebuggles: Way to go on saying to check the IGNITION TIMING which is the first thing to check !!! |

it's a brand new 28017-00Y so the jet is the stock jet. |
