Hey everyone, I have a quick question on where i should run my tranny breather hose. I have a 99 m2 and the previous owner had a 3-4 foot rubber hose that seemed to run the course of a maze. All i want to do is clean up the look a bit. what are your recommendations on where to run the hose? Also should i put a small breather filter on the end of the hose? |

You have two choses: Run the breather hose back to behind your license plate mount ... Run the breather hose to a catch container ... |

I looped mine up over the battery from the left side to the right with the open end pointing downward to prevent water from entering. I don’t have a catch can and have had no problems after many miles. By the way, the best trans/primary oil to use is Harley-Davidson Formula +. |

"FYI", IMHO you should use engine oil in your transmission ... Why would "i" say that, well if the MOTOR SPROCKET SHAFT oil seal goes bad all "I" WANT IN MY ENGINE IS ENGINE OIL ... (Message edited by buellistic on March 29, 2012) |

I think that normally works the other way around ie when the crank seal fails its the back pressure from the cases that blows all the trans oil out too |

KNOW YOUR OIL SYSTEM ... The OIL TANK is higher than the OIL SUMP(bottom end) ... The OIL in the OIL TANK drains to the lowest point ... "SO", if the SPROCKET SHAFT OIL SEAL goes bad the OIL reaching its lowest level will drain into the TRANSMISSION ... Therefore if you run any lubricant in the TRANSMISSION than engine oil it will be sucked out of the TRANSMISSION and into the engine because of the bad sprocket shaft oil seal !!! |
