I like the way that trimmed cover looks. Looking evil and mechanical.

Do I see a kawi 750 motor? If there was some way to get one in a bike.... Screeeeeamin 2 strokers. I used to have a 96 750sx.

I like the xb tensioner looks like a mod I would like to do in the future. It looks like the "forks" were welded? Did you have to change the length? If so did you have to do something to get the tension right afterwards?

NWrider. Yeap. thats a smallpin 750sx motor. Its from an X2. I just pulled it to clean up the motor and do some porting. Next to it is my race motor. A Tim Judge yamaha 701 motor that I stuffed into a kawasaki 550 hull I built...

Dean, The XB tensioner is awesome! My favorite part is the fact that unlike the XB, it hangs very low. So when I'm just strolling by a window, I can see it rotate backwards as the wheels and other pulleys (which are very visitble now) are rotating forwards. And since they are all different sizes, they all are turning at different speeds. Very neat looking.

There was lots of machine work involved in making them fit, so yes you do see welds on the legs. I added what I remember was .6" of material. Then lots of material removal.

So I just knocked out a 270 mile trip for the weekend down to south florida...

Bike rides great. No major oil spilling other than a small seep from the bottom of the transmission casing, and were I resealed the oil lines to the oil tank... (I stupidly rushed and didn't let it cure long enough)

The Transmission Shifts GREAT, except for a missed shift every now and then from the grabber assembly. Before it downshifted fine, but would miss upshifts. So this time I aligned the claw for better upshifts... but now it has a tendency to miss downshifts.

MAJOR issue I dont like. With the rear raised, this changes 2 major geometries. Wheel base shortens, and the rake is reduced. ( I have no spedometer so you'll have to tell me what speed it is around) At about 4,800 rpms, (and closer to 4200 when the gas tank is full) in 5th gear, the bike starts to swim. Just like viewing a fish flapping its tail from above, it rocks back and forth, as if it was a flag. I can sit further back and reduce it....

I have the rear shock maxed all the way out on preload.... I can reduce this... and raise the front forks perhaps 2-3 mm...

Taking up some of the belt slack and adding a bit extra wheelbase...

Other opinions?

Well if moving back reduces the behavior you may want to try and reduce your preload a bit so you can move the back end down a skodge, that's what you are doing when you scoot back on the seat anyway, adding more weight to the back.

I weighed my cam cover before and after I trimmed it, between 6-5.5 lbs pre-cut and 4.5 after. I left more material so you probably trimmed more than a pound from it.
