Go to the links thread, and find the link to the X1 files -- also, lot's of data here in the Knowledge Vault, but likely not a step by step (now watch MikeJ, the human search engine, prove me wrong!) |

the BRAG folks at Illinois HD are great! Sam, the Buell Sales guy, is a good head (for a leg) . . . their meetings are the first Thursday of the month at 7 pee em . . . drop on in. I live about 20 minutes beloiw the state line, up near where the late, lamented highland house was, and ride up into that ferrin country called wisconsin pretty often . . . . . I may be at the meeting next week |

Simply, 2 different ways. I used a K&N stock replacement filter, eliminated the Helmholtz tube, replaced it with the venturi ring. The other way uses a K&N filter on a mod'ed Helmholtz tube. (pic in x1 files under gutted airbox) In either case, using a catch can for the head breather system, is, IMHO, the best solution. Having breather goo running down your leg, is, IMHO, not a good thing. There is a boat load of info in the knowledge vault. I run a custom Coke catch can ( 5 cent deposit ), but if you want to spend $200 on billet ego shiny stuff, go ahead. ( the Jaz mini can for $45 is nice too ) |

Dunno if this'll help at all but worked for me (S3) I "cheated" the one line back around out of the breadbox JAZ bottle mounted in the easiest place I could find. (Message edited by slaughter on August 02, 2004) |

very cool. thanks slaughter... where did you get your "jaz can" ? behrents online ? is it the mini ? oh, and if you know the fitting size that would be awesome ! 1/4 or 3/8. although, i have the 01 x1. it might be different. one more thing, where did you get that clip to hold the sensor ? thanks [again] ! |

Got my Jazz Can from Behrent's and later found it for the same price at a local automobile speed shop. Yes, it is the "Mini." The hose used is 3/8" ID. Clip came from the local Ace Hardware Store in the Electrical department. They are self-adhesive and I believe they are packaged by Gardner Bender. I got my JAZ can directly from JAZ when the local speed shop didn't have one in stock. It'll be cheaper for you buying it locally but I got tired of waiting. The sensor mount came with the X1 race filter/intake kit. That is a marginal mount - double-sided tape and doesn't stick totally good. I'd be tempted to use a zip-tie and just use some caulking around the holes through the breadbox. I had to fab that hold-down fixture - 2 long bolts and an aluminum bar. USE LOCTITE on those bolts by the way!!! I also cut a hole where I fed the vent back out the backside of the breadbox. Crude but effective. You might be better off with the XB covers - but this mod worked for me. |
