Ok, somebody help me out with this. I'll be changing out my fork seals and i have some questions on the home made version of the driver. An actual fork seal driver is a two piece unit and has a substantial weight to it to hammer the seal down. If I make one out of PVC what will give it the weight or ability to drive the seal down? Am I missing something? Any suggestions or designs or materials that work better then others? pictures? I'll take whatever you have to offer. thanks. |

You should be able to just use a piece of wood on the top. Take a 2x4 or something sim drill into it the diameter of your pipe so it sits on it use a rubber mallet to drive it |

I use a PVC pipe cut in half, works well, does not mar the metal surfaces. I have a couple of different sizes, and thicknesses to accomodate the different forks on all my bikes. |

If you use screw clamps to clamp the two halves to the fork tube, the weight of the lower leg is enough to drive in the seal. Mike |

What Mike said. If you use PVC pipe, make sure to chamfer the inside lip so as not to nick the seal lip. |
