I just purchased a 2001 X1 and the previous owner made some modifications that I need to fix. They removed the rear plastic fender, the plastic undertail, the key lock that works the seat pin latch and the wire going to the seat pin latch. I now need to find an undertail section to install as well as a keyway and wire in order to release my seat pin latch. I know on my old Buell my ignition key also worked the seat pin latch. Can I have a new key way made to match the ignition key or will i have to carry around two keys, one for the ignition and one for the seat pin latch? Thanks, Jeremy |

I have tried a few locksmiths to get a key made for mine. Check around and you should be able to find a locksmith who can do it. I have seen ignition and trunk locks on flebay a few times |

You can go to a dealer and order a trunk lock or ignition switch to match either key number under the black sheathing of the key. (Message edited by gremmie7 on March 23, 2012) |

I spoke with the dealer and they informed me that I would need to get a new key with the cores for the steering head, ignition and seat latch. It was well over $100 for the parts. I am thinking about trying to make something to attach to the end of the cable so I can just pull on the cable to release the seat pin latch. |
