I just purchased a 2000 x1 red racing stripes edition and love it . It came with a forcewinder, full d&d and race ECM . I am looking for info on a tail lifter kit . I see alot of pic of x1s that look like the tail sets higher than mine and help would be greatly appreciated thanks |

I believe most of those are home made. It can be done by loosening the top bolts and removing the lower ones then making a spacer, basically just a flat bar with two holes, the spacing of the holes lifts the tail. Make sure the bar you use is strong enough to support your weight. |

The 'lift' look on a Buell seems more popular in Europe. Trojan parts has both a 'lift kit' and also a 'shortened tail' kit (the aluminum rear is "shortened" looks about like an S1 Twin Tail): http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/pc19.html Twin Motorcycles also has them: http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/index.asp?gu id=YXHFSC&cid=317&a=&s= But the exciting one is the 'coming soon' parts for X1 at TwinMC, definitely look here: http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=3220&cid=5365&s=&a=&aname=Buell_X1 _Exclusive_Parts_by_TM |

I use the real H-D stuff in the primary because there are clutch plates, gears, and wiring in there. Other than that, I use normal 20-50 oil for the engine. So basically, I only buy oil filters and tranny juice at the dealers. |

AMSOIL . You can find a distributor and have it shipped to your doorstep. It's supposed to be a great oil (top of the list), lots of Badwebber's use it, and they sponsor EBR. I've used Royal Purple before and love it but it's pricey. I am happy with the Mobil 1 V-twin 20W50 I use now and I can get it anywhere. I've switched out my OEM clutch for an Energy One. The Energy One is Kevlar and they recommend not using synthetic so I use Shell Rotella-T 15W40 non-synthetic in the primary with very good results. Some gear oils contain additives that are reported to eat the coating off of the stator wires. If you use gear oil in the primary use what H-D recommends or do good research first. |

I just got my X1 in November, and as soon as I get some Amsoil I'm putting that in the crankcase, along with Wix oil filter p/n 51214. Formula+ is going in the primary this weekend when I get my new primary adjuster in the mail. |

All is of this is very useful information and my father in law is an amsoil dealer so that's the route I'll be going . The weather here was about 60 today so this was my first real good ride on it and really like it . I love the d&d full system sounds way better than any inline exhaust I've ever had ! Thank you all . I just got my service manual and went trough and adjusted clutch and checked all my isolators and belt deflection . Very excited about summer |

Neil, it came on the bike when I bought it. I'm planning on painting the brace in front of it flat black when the temps get into the 70s. |
