I noticed that the rims have a sand-like texture that really is confusing me for prepping matters. Please Help!   Buell_bert Posted on Monday, February 13, 2012 - 12:33 am:        I know this may sound counter productive to American Ingenuity BUT you may be able to trade your rims to someone else as it may be cheaper or sell them and buy a black set. Otherwise take them off and have them powdercoated for a long service life. I would rather not have my bike on stilts while waiting for rims to arrive. I will help you look and find a place. I had a pair of black rims but sold them. I had a whole bunch of parts powdercoated and it took less than 2 weeks to get done.
