Now a 1998 S1 White Lightning has my interest. I believe this model was 10hp up on previous models. Did the rear header shape change as well? Does anyone recognise this bike from Utah? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbi kes/sports/auction-429822467.htm |

Rear header is the same on all S1's. That one has the full race exhaust installed though. |

The rear header on all S1's is the same because all are over the frame, to answer the original question. And Tim, memory serves you well. The collectors on the S1W were 2.5" as opposed to the S1 2". BUT, this bike in question has neither stock exhausts. It has the full race exhaust. (Message edited by brinnutz on December 15, 2011) |

Some rear headers seem to pass well to the rear of the timing cover, some close to the edge like the yellow '96 pictured in a recent post, and some like Rkc00's appear to go over the cover. Thanks Brinnutz. Was the racing exhaust standard on all S1W's and is the colour scheme an original option? Thanks, Gary |

that is a mostly original color. Frame and wheels were always the same color though, so either this one used to have nuke blue wheels or it had the optional PM wheels. But white with a nuke blue frame (and wheels) was a stock color. no bikes came stock with the race exhaust. |
