bought her this spring. low mileage but not pretty. Changed to s1 tail put a little over 5000miles on her. Started tear down last night. Mostly cleaning and painting(powder coating) to be done. I do have an alloy swing arm to add. Who knows what else once I start.

Looks like a great winter project. Let me know if you need any S1 pieces, I've got some stuff laying around that I don't need.

I am taking photos all the way.I have thought about inverted forks looking for the right deal. Might go for dual front brakes also. Got an XB oil cooler. Have some great ideas from this sight.

YUP!

My favorite Buell pipe for sound quality, though it is a little loud if you crack the throttle wide open.

Do you happen to know how these things are supposed to mount, or a good way to mount them? The only thing holding it up right now is an automotive-type muffler clamp & hanger in the back, looks a little rigged!

I think there was a polished stainless, or chromed strap that wrapped around the pipe, in front and aft of the main body.

It seems like it was a slotted job.
Mounts should line up with the stock hanger locations.

they haven't made that pipe for a long while, but Borla is still in business so you may get some help from them with an email or letter.

Sorry for the threadjack Deant. I think the standard forks look fine, and I understand they perform well when professionally tuned to the rider. What are your plans for the paint?

I just am going over the cosmetics.(and doing a few upgrades) I redid the tail to take lightning seat and pan, I want to finish and paint that. You will notice about have the paint has bubbled off the tank.
I have an extra set of forks I was thinking of powder coating black and rebuilding. I think I am going to powder coat the frame and wheels olive green and digital camo the plastics. Im an exmarine and want something ez to redo so bubbles in the tank can be an ez fix.
Anyone ever see a white bros can before that is what I have and it is a nice looking setup?

I really liked the White Brothers exhaust I had on my M2, the disk's provide better performance in the M2's (low and mid) range than the V & H I put on my bike after it. Great looking pipe too.

The cnc'd rear hanger is moto art, just dang pretty! It is nice how it tucks up nice and close to the bike too.

I didn't care for how the exhaust exit left me gagging on my bikes fumes at every light I got stopped at, even with the deflector shield they sell. My left foot got a bit warm on interstate rides in the summer too, the shield helped with that quite a bit.

Keep an eye on that front pipe clamp, the one that holds the elbow to the muffler. If you don't it may shake loose, especially if you didn't follow the tighten from the back and wiggle forward to the headers tightening procedure. I think you can reverse the process too for the same results - making sure there are no binding points in the system causing stress on the mounting points...

I think your paint will look sweet. Let it cure a while, weeks or months, before putting fuel in the tank. No_rice's OD green XB looks great, and I've seen a couple camo Uly's that looked tight too. Froggy had a blue digital camo Uly and I've got pics of another camo Uly from the One Last Ride event on 09. I'd be happy to post those pics for you for some reference photos.

Those bikes are aweswome looking! Can't wait to see how yours ends up Dean!

Mtjm2, picked her up on Craigslist in MI last week. PO said the tank had the same problems as Dean's, bubbling paint. I think I'm gonna go molten orange, already have a black bike, and I've always liked that color, I'm a sucker for bright things!

my youngest son wants it digital camo blue. He is in coast guard academy prep school. I think he is thinking about taking it over. Funny after his first ride he named her "death rattle" now he wants her.
I like that milled hanger also makes it look like a high dollar pipe. I think the sound is great not loud but nasty.
I thought about a higher dollar paint job but I ride most everyday to work rain or shine(during the time there isnt snow) and admit I dont wash it as often as I should. I had a 1950 panhead with house of color orange paint ghost flames that were made up of skulls. I fell like shit every time I got rained on.

S1owner: I've got a stock muffler, stock mirrors, stock airbox setup (complete), wiring harness (kind of cut up, but lots of connectors could be re-used), set of low bars similar to Crossroads, primary cover, Corbin single seat, black front fender, maybe some other odds & ends.

PM me if you want any of it, I sold my S1's and wouldn't mind freeing up some shelf space in the shop.

hope to have the frame finished up. Have a few welds to finish. I also am removing the passenger footpeg tabs and going to add some pegs to hook a bike lift to.

I also want the wheels stripped then everything will be off for powder coating.

I removed the aircleaner tab from the front motor mount and am smoothing it up. Should have a batch of small parts ready to powder coat myself this weekend.

Removed front end last night. Thinking about milling the triple tree and adding a set of protapers.

So far only bad news is I broke an exhaust stud. I am drawing out an engine stand then I can get after it.

Nice looking projects. Here's mine...one of these days I'll get back to it. Too much crap flying around life right now, though, and when I need Buell Therapy I throw a leg over one that runs, and beat the crap out of it lol.

01 M2L, no longer a Low. Early S3 (WP) forks, still looking for a fender. Buell touring seat. Buell race exhaust (header and muffler). Buell race intake. Buell race "clipon" bars (Crossroads style). And not in the photo, it now has 1125CR mirrors with LED signals front and rear, and a spiffy clear lens tail light and red bulb (until I finish modifying some police TIR-3 LEDs into a brake light).
