I got my bike from a Harley guy, so it had a straight pipe on it just for the sound, and a cobbled up hanger mess for the pipe (but the rest of the bike looked pretty sweet) I noticed the front 'hanger' was cracked the other day, measured it to make another. Took the bike out for 30 miles or so tonight, and the front header tube broke 1" in front of the front head. Ouch. |

Measure twice next time? Well, not real clear, did the header break on the replacement mount, or on the cracked original? |

the front mount underneath broke, then all the weight/vibration on the header broke the front tube 1" in front of the cylinder head. |

Jim, in case you were unaware, you can use a header from an S3 or X1 if you can't find a M2 specific part, just put a plug in the O2 sensor bung, or get a gauge and monitor your A/F ratio for better fueling. |

ouch... But '99s are mild steel, right? Still relatively easy to weld? (Compared to stainless on '00s and up?) Even brazed? Just band-aided while you search or save up for a new header. |
