I saw this today and have no idea what is is. I asked the seller and he has no idea other than it came off of a 00 M2. I'm llooking for a cheap aftermarket muffler but dont want someone elses home made job. I can do that myself with me existing can.

Is that the one on ebay with the stock header and that muff for $290? If so, even I wouldn't pay that. Looks like a homemade job on the front mount too. (Message edited by brinnutz on October 05, 2011) |

Ahh, not the one with the header combo...Still looks to have a homemade job front strap though..I wouldn't pay that much that he's asking on that auction though, but that's me. |

Yeah thats the one on ebay. I figured it was a hommade job. I just wanted to get another opinion. I asked the guy to list them sepeately and he did, but he still has the muffler listed way more than what I want to pay. I guess i'll keep looking. thanx for the second |

That is a Dayton Boss slip on. Good muffler but it did have problems with mounting brackets breaking. Al had some rear ones made up some time ago that work perfectly. Pure unobtanium now though. There wasn't enough demand for a front bracket to be made. The were a bit more complicated and therefore more $$$. They were made by Stainless Steel Specialties in FL if memory serves. Brad |

Looks like a large out let from the header to a "CHOCKER" small inlet noise maker !!! |

The photo is deceptive. The inlet and outlet are both 2.5". And yes, it is quite the noise maker! Not as loud as a D&D but louder than and V&H. Good sounding pipe, not raspy at all. Good power as well, better than the V&H if memory serves. |

IF I can weld a bracket or a hanger onto the slip on would it be worth my time and effort. Should I hold out for a V&H |

Marc, why do you want to change your muffler? Most of the "El Cheapos" out there will decrease HP and torque all across the range and worsen your gas mileage. The good performance cans that cost $300+ are priced that way because they enhance performance, not because they make "more noise". More noise does not equal better performance or horsepower. The only advantage you get is the lighter weight. My opinion; run the stock pipe until you can afford a good tuned pipe like the Buell race exhaust, Supertrapp, or anything else American Sport Bike sells. Trust me on this one. |

I bought the bike and it had a K & N air filter installed with an aftermarket intake.I plan on re-jetting and know that I need to upgrade the exhaust. I know that I need to keep back pressure, just was'nt sure what type of muffler that I could getaway with before compromising HP. I was hoping to find a used muffler instead of buying a new (expensive) one. |

If weight is not an issue, try searching eBay for a used stock muffler. They usually go fairly cheap, are mellow in tone and create good HP. Then save up for a really good (read; expensive) pipe you can buy later, in conjunction with the race header. I think the Buell race header and pipe are the best on the market (if you can find them) |
