I have the worse time getting the seat off my S3T. The post that goes into the latch is such a tight fit, that if it is not exactly perfect, I almost can't get the seat off when releasing the latch. Every time I remove the rear plastics it drives me crazy trying to get the plate and post aligned. The latch does not have that much movement but the aluminum plate does. Or should I just enlarge the hole in the plate? Any easier way to do this or is there a trick to it? | ||

I wouldn't enlarge the hole. I don't have any issues with mine, and I can see the marks where everything goes to put it back the same. Does maybe the pin need to be lengthened? | ||

Lube the release cable and latch. | ||

I have moved the post up and down trying to change the action. I have also lubed the cable and latch. You can see the action withdraw completely when you pull the handle. When I pull the handle and lift on the rear of the seat it seems the post catches on the plate not the latch. | ||

Loosen the three bolts/screws that hold the plate and move it so that the pin doesn't hang on it. Once you find it's happy spot, tighten the screws. Now scribe locator marks around the screw heads...should be less of a hassle. | ||

Don't know how close an S3 is to my X-1, but think "Front of The Seat" You might have better luck with the front seat attach, and tank hold down bracket. I know my X-1 seat got crabby when I put the tank hold down on 180deg wrong. | ||

"Don't know how close an S3 is to my X-1" The S3 seat uses a pin in the center of the seat similar (smaller arrow head 5/16 dia.verses the X1's larger 1/2 dia.) rear mounted pin, the rear on the S3 uses a quarter turn key latch. Pic of S3 seat pin and 1/4 turn key latch.  X1 seat pin.  |
