I have had one of these on my bike for a year now and LOVE it! The shifting is much more precise and positive.

It's VERY adjustable.


Also allows for easy conversion to GP shift pattern.

Does the shifter itself have bearings or bushings in it where it bolts to the bike?

Yes. The middle pivot lever has bearings. The connecting rods have bushings. Both are very smooth.

What is up with the clutch cable re-route? Do they include that as well? Seems you will have to open the derby cap to install this correct? And the rear mounting changes the foot peg relocation?

That's a stock photo of a bike with the hydraulic clutch kit installed. No reroute required for this kit.

The bike in the pic is an M2 with relocaters installed.
I'm not sure how it would fit with the lower fairing. But it fit my X1 perfect without the fairing. if you can post a pic of yours with the fairing I might be able to tell you.
And Ft_bstrd is correct there is no re-routeing on the cable. The pic shows the Hydralic clutch installed on the M2. There is no going inside the case to install this shifter.

Ken & I were looking at these pics & we are thinking that maybe the shifter that is being offered now would NOT fit with the way it is mounted. Being the heim ends go under the toggle & behind the bell crank. Making everything go behind the clutch cable. This would probably end up causing conflict with the fairing. BUT Ken thinks with a couple of adjustments with the same basic kit we can come up with a shifter that would work with your fairing.}}

The X1 uses a two piece block that the updated shifter mounts on.

You could probably use the B2R shifter with the updated part's mounting block and attach the linkage to the outside without loosing the leverage advantage, instead of running it under the clutch cable. So people with the updated shifter kit could probably use this shifter without too much trouble.

Or maybe you guys could whip up a quick spacer to fit up, similar to the updated shifter spacers, it should be a fairly easy mod to make to your current kit. Maybe someone could scan a pic of the X1 two piece mounting block and send it, or post it so you guys can work out a mod.

Well my scanner is on the fritz, but I can copy the page(s) from my X1 parts book. The body work page shows how the pivot bolt passes through the mounting blocks (called bushings in the book). The shifter page shows them a bit bigger, but not how they correspond to the chin fairing. (Pages 64 and 30 from my 2002 X1 book, pn# 99571-02Y)

I'm happy to copy those particular pages and drop them in the mail for you. I can do it in the morning if you'd like. I can also snap a few macro pics of the mounting hardware and email them out to you.

PM your address to me and I can get it out to you.

How 'bout Guell's question? Looks like it rides on the regular nylon bushing (or bronze if you got that kit from A.S.B. when they had it) at the foot peg mounting point that the boomerang shifter would fit to, is that correct?

I suggest a change to include a bearing on the actual shifter. My RRC shifter has it, and it is a MUCH improved feel over any other shifter out there.

that's what I've been asking! I'm not trying to nitpick the piece but for 230 it shouldn't be using the stock or bronze bushings, bearings should be the only thing considered. I like how it looks but if it doesn't have the bearings then ill be giving banke a call eventually

If I remember correctly my Banke shifter doesn't have a bearing at the shift arm either.

i used to have a banke, smooth as buttah. Had bearings in it, no slopiness and improved shifts.

There are two different shifter configurations.

I believe there was a Banke shifter configuration that used the rider peg as the pivot point. It didn't have bearings.

The other configuration (the one pictured above) uses a pivot point on the primary case and does have a bearing.

I believe the one I have uses the stock plastic bushing, but I'll have to check. If so, you could use either the stock plastic bushing or the upgraded brass bushing.

I went through a ton of my photos, didn't see any Banke w/out a bearing on the shifter pivot. I own a Banke, but I don't use it. I am by no means trying to thread crap, just letting you know. =)

The RRC shifter I have on my rearset (relocators) is peg mounted with a ball bearing pivot, so it's possible. ; )



Maybe a revised edition with the shifter pivot moved so that there may be a bearing used...It's an amazing upgrade over any type of bushing.
