Got intake and carb off for rebuild. Going to get new intake seals. Want to rebuild the carb. HD dealer said there is not a rebuild kit just parts? So i guess a new float, needle, bowl gasket, anything else? Can I just order parts for 2002 1200 HD ? |

IMHO, replace the INTAKE SEALS and the INTAKE/CARBURETOR SEAL ... Fill your gas tank and put 6 1/4 oz. STP GAS TREATMENT in the gas ... That will take care of CLEANING the CARB. ... |

I bough the individual seals and various parts for doing mine. Local dealer also told me there was not an HD rebuild kit. It is possible the aftermarket makes one for the CV40 though... I didn't explore that option, since I was already at the dealer and they had all the stuff in stock. |

Theres a big aftermarket supply place in Iowa that carries a rebuild kit. As I recall it was less than $20. May not be factory, but even the factory probably doesn't make their own gaskets and o-rings. |

Why do you think you need a 'kit' to clean out your carb? What's wrong with it? If it NEEDS a float or NEEDS a new needle, replace them. They're probably fine. The only thing that you MIGHT need is the float bowl gasket. It's an O-ring and they do sometimes take a set and not seal. Even that is generally reusable. I think most people are afraid to work on their stuff because they make it more difficult than it has to be and psyche themselves out. There just ain't that much going on in there. Take it apart, clean the jets and passages and put it back together. That's all it should need. |

I found a rebuild kit for $23 after googling CV40. For the $ just like to know the carb has been gone thru and don't have to worry about it for another few years. Also picked up intake seals and need new choke cable. Carb kit came with all internals and carb to intake gasket. |
