it'll probably be flagged for removal real quick so I copypastard the text. http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/2561576291.htm l To the beginners out there...BUELLS were sold thru HARLEY DAVIDSON..NOT A HARLEY DAVIDSON..BUELL went belly up from the crappy product.Dont be fooled by someone that thought the same then found out the truth and hope to find someone as ignorant as they were.Want a Harley,,buy a HARLEY,,Dont try to sell imposters as the real deal} |

The only thing on my Buell that gives trouble is the Harley Davidson motor. Moving forward 2011 Erik Buell Racing have corrected this with a purpose built much better motor. Go Erik Buell Racing.

I love my X1 and I would NEVER EVER sell it or get rid of it, however, I made up my mind long ago that I would also NEVER EVER buy another product from Buell or Harley Davidson ever again. In my opinion, when Eric Buell sold off company, he made a deal with the devil. Production went up, but quality and customer service went down. |

quality? I think the xb and 1125 are a much more refined bike. they might not have some of the hand made touches that tubers had, but i wouldnt say quality went down. |

How much did Erik own after 1998, and how much did HD own? HD closed Buell. If they didn't own it, they couldn't have done it. You've never adequately explained why you don't think HD owned Buell Court. I'd be interested in your take on it. Because from the outside looking in, it sure appears that Erik sold a controlling interest to HD, and then had the rug pulled out from underneath him. Not trying to be difficult, it's just that you keep saying that, and then never explain what you mean. |

Yeah, like that. I'm either dense, or you're being obtuse. If you 'd rather not talk about it, or can't talk about it, that's cool too, just say so. |

And I'd be willing the believe I'm dense. Wouldn't be the first time I've been guilty of it. |

lets make this simple. all that was stated(if you read the words) is that Eric sold the company. no one named Eric ever owned the company therefore people are disagreeing because, well this whole thread is just plain stupid so why not have some fun with it. then when you stated that Erik sold controlling interest to hd you were agreed with. that simple. i dont think your dense, just simply missing the letter play... all i can figure from the whole post is that the original poster must be butt hurt about something. maybe he had some bad luck with a Buell. that truly sucks if thats the case but currently i honestly dont know nor do i care simply because a useless post doesnt require any help from anyone (Message edited by no_rice on August 24, 2011) |

The Motor Company also owned MV Augusta. Luckily they didn't get the chance to screw that one up. If you don't believe me take a ride on the Brutale 990RR... |

I think what happened was Buell was independent with the "Buell Motor Company" building the RR, RS and RSS machines... then a NEW company was formed in 1993 called the "Buell Motorcycle Company" of which the partners were HD and Erik. So technically their was no actual "sale" to HD. Regards Gavin 1990 RS1200 number 59 |

>>>they didn't get the chance to screw that one up. It was worth $160,000,000 the day they bought it. They tried to sell it 18 months later . . couldn't. . . and sold it back to Claudio for $1. What part of "didn't screw it up" am I missing? ((P.S. - Yes, I know the specifics of the purchase and am quite well aware that it was not an "arm's length transaction and that folks "left to pursue other interests" as a result)) (Message edited by court on August 24, 2011) |

So some booger-pickin-moron posts a typical "Harley's best, eff the rest" thing on an obscure CL and people here get upset about it? Man, you guys are easy to spool up. |

Eric / Eric Who F'in cares? It's not my fault his mamma spelled his name wrong. You morons know who I am talking about. Your probably the same morons that habitually confuse their with there. (take that lightly folks.) I have an a-hole and I have an opinion about buell's too. I never had an RS or an XB; only the X1. So that's all I can go by. It's a great second or third bike, but not an "only" bike. If you need a bike that it going to start up and go day after day, get a jap bike or a BMW. |

My X1 was my 'only' bike for 12 years. Then I got an S2. |
