Harley Davidson Dyna filter. You can get them at any HD shop. I prefer the black one. |

I like the black on also. And i use a slip on aluminum cooling fin sleeve over the filter. then i safety wire a hose clamp on it and on then to the front engine tie bar. I have had 2 oil filters jump ship and totally oil the bike down. |

I use the Scott's Aluminum Filter... I know those have got a bad rap here but they do work and clean up easily and on a Buell MORE OIL does not mean better performance. I have a fully race prepared Buell and the engine builders Star Racing in Americus, Ga. suggested running 2 qts of oil. I have run ONLY 2 qts now and no problems plus I had them install a windage tray to reduce oil at the bottom end. I have the oversize American Sport Bike Aluminum Oil Tank and run ONLY 2qts period. Bike has never run stronger. |

Scott filter alone reduced temps by 10 degrees easy... I validated with hitting the oil with an IR thermo and it works... and reducing oil did not create more heat.. you will be shocked at how much oil that bike does NOT need... never bathe the crank in oil and the top end with revised XB rockerboxes do the right trick as far as oiling needs.... adding the windage tray is the biggest advantage to picking up HP. |

American Sport Bike I think has the Scott's filter try Al first then online if Al does not have one or cannot source one for ya.. he is a good guy.. the Windage Tray can be sourced by almost any of our sponsors but it is NOT easy to install unless you crack the engine.. I had a windage tray installed to reduce the oil hitting my crank so I could obtain maximum rwHP. The boys at Star Racing consulted with Nallin Racing and American Sport Bike and determined that was the ticket... my Buell pulls like a freaking freight train now that I did that bottom end and top end work to it. |

Also, They (Windage Tray) allow the crank & flywheel to spin without as much resistance to the oil mist & any oil down there..., they only really made you make more power in higher revving engines where every little bit helps.. On a stock motor, You won't gain much from that operation alone.. On a race motor, you will probly see about 2-6rwhp.. |

too kewl 01x1buell... I too came to the same crossroad and never regretted the money I spent on my tuber vs. getting a new 1125.. I spent over $11,000 on engine and suspension work and I do not regret it.. love the tuber over the 1125 hands down but you will not go wrong with either way you choose! |

If you run a bigger filter, use a hose clamp on it to keep it from spinning loose. DAMHIK. |

where would you put the clamp?? and how would that keep a filter on?? just curious |

Im with o1x - unless youre wiring the clamp to something else I fail to see how putting a clamp on the filter would help it from coming off. If youre having filters come off of your bike then youre doing something really wrong |

You clamp around the base of the filter install it and then safety wire the bolt on the clamp. Then run it up to the front engine tie bar with no slack then it cannot rotate no matter what. One of the times the filter came the whole filter and the adapter came off the bike. here is a picture for reference.

"I spent over $11,000 on engine and suspension work and I do not regret it" Wow i though i was bad. your just as bad as i am with this addiction bike.......I paid 5k for my bike. Then it dropped a valve front exhaust. Fixed then the rear dropped an exhaust valve. Front valve pic
Rear valve dropped took out the whole engine
I had to replace the heads, Jugs valve train. The whole thing after all the goodies and mods and shipping and tuning and mapping I am at a whopping $17,000.00 to this day and i not done yet i need like 5 more high end parts to finish the bike the way i see it in my head. I have done the suspension, motor, tranny and body parts. I love my X1 and i will never sell it. |
