I just pulled into the driveway here a few minutes ago. It was REALLY great seeing everyone from the last ride I was at, and meeting the new people at this ride! Spidy, thanks for putting this ride on, and all the work that you put into it! Jack, sorry to hear that they didn't have your stator on hand, but it looks like you made the best of it. As always, great pictures!! Shane, Frank, and Jack; Safe travels! I hope the rest of your trip goes off safely and with out any more bike issues. Pete, it was GREAT rooming and riding with you! Hope to see you again next year! Already making plans for the Ozarks... |

Yes Tim, I was close to you. I had your contact info in my tank bag but needed sleep more than anything. I am in Kerney, NE and just checked into a hotel. I have oil all over the side of the bike and it is coming out of the tranny vent hose so the main shaft seal may be done. I am not surprised with the temps and doing 80 mph all day. I am going to check the oil level later but it looks a little low now (but not much). I did not think I was getting on it hard and do not recall ever getting up to 5k rpm so I guess it is shot. If I was getting on it (besides the high speed and heat) then I would try to make it home. I notice a little on the foot peg early today then a lot of the foot peg about 60 miles ago so when I stopped for gas I noticed it dripping some oil. No HD shop here and I did not want to chane trying to make the extra 100 miles to North Platt so I guess I will loom into a U Haul when I get checked into a room. I am only about 300 miles from home...... |

Frank, you can make it home. I traveled all the way from phoenix to olympia with a blown tranny seal. I made a catch can out of a beer can and then just kept adding oil. I went all the way up through yellowstone on that s3 and just kept recycling the oil and adding new as needed. Sj |

Frank, the trans vent on my Parkway Blue bike started puking at around 18,000 miles.Nothing wrong with the main shaft seal, the vent hose and nipple were open as well.I plumed it into a catch can and every couple of months I'd have to drain a small amount of splooge from the can.98,000 miles later........ I'm jealous of you guys and your pile of S2's in one place. On the Northeast Touring Adventure,we lined up mabye 8 or 10 S2's and shot some pics. We should do an S2 ride in the sunny South.I know you were digging on our roads when you were in Suches. Mike |

Shane, I actually thought about just riding and loosening up the inspection cover for the overfill if it got to that point and let the oil vent out the hose and just replace the oil on the way. However, I decided to get a uhaul. No way I would attempt to do anything in this heat. I just cannot get over how hot it is here. In the time it took to load the bike and strap it down my tee shirt was soaked...... Yeah, I am not working on anything in this heat. Tim, I know you were ready to deploy in order to help in anyway you can. That is comforting to know in your part of the country. Jack and Shane. Your doing the righ thing by waiting a few days. No way you want to be working on your bikes in this weather. Not that we had to work on the bikes much LOL? |

Frank, From personal experience riding in an a/c U-haul is not to bad compared to riding through Hell....I'm mean Kansas in this kind of heat. We are headed to Arkansas on Thursday on a scouting trip. Should be fun! It is actually cooler there. |

Loren and Meribeth, have fun and I look forward to hearing a report upon your return. I am grabbing some coffee and getting ready to head home. I had sometime to re-think the S2T as a long distance bike. It is still hands down better than any other buell for distance riding that I have owned. However, that may not be good enough. I did think about other things like tools, smart phones vs computer, riding apparel and spare parts to carry.... I have a lot to think about for the drive home. Shane and Jack may be getting on the road today so safe journeys and no break downs for you two. I think I used up the quota. I had other issues along the way but I will post all that when I return home. Frank |

Have a good drive Frank. I am heading out wednesday 4am. I hope to get some distance before it gets to hot to ride. Doing a gypsy oil change today and going over every thing. Tomorrow looks the hottest yet. |

That'd be great. Mine needs some work, mostly consumables, and I've ebay'd some parts that I've yet to put on. Too hot to sit out there and work on her though. Should be plenty of time this winter. |

Day 1: This is what I would call a perfect day save the rain in Northern NE and SD. I took all backroads into NE and stopped at Car Henge. http://www.carhenge.com/
It was interesting that at two of my stops I was approached by someone that wanted to know if "that" was a Ulysses.... One guy must of saw the look on my face and corrected himself saying "oh, the Ulysses is a Harley bike not Buell, right?" yes. Onto South Dakota
My enthusiasm for pictures ran out when I hit the rain. I had been real lucky up to then but the temp dropped and the winds started... The PR3's did great in the rain. I got a hotel in dipshit SD...... Day 2: Shane was also holed up in a hotel in Rapid City about 100 miles West of me. We met up the next morning and continued on to the Mitchell SD KOA... Mitchell is home of the "Corn Palace"..... http://www.cornpalace.org/
Luck starting to change... Seems that Shane's muffler was looking to ditch the bike and split but Shane caught it in time and quite by accident. Shane fashioned a muffler bracket out of rocks and sticks... Worked well...
We had the worse Chinese food I ever had. We ate it all but we were pretty hungry. Shane is an early riser and likes to get on the road asap. I like to as well, maybe not as early as Shane. Off we go to Brad's house. But first lets pickup Jack that rode into Mitchell the night before.
I normally like to ride alone but I was glad I had Jack and Shane around for moral support as my bike kept dying on me. We made it to Brad's and Brad took us around to the local Auto Parts places to get the parts. Not exactly what we wanted but close enough. I was beat so two very poor pictures.
The next day I was ill, to ill to ride. Jack and Shane braved the weather and headed out and I enjoyed a day of relaxing on the couch. However, when I did ride out to Christmas it was a long lonely ride but I think I made good time and the bike stayed together.

"Next year is at Beaver Lake in Arkansas and being hosted by Baldwin Motorbike Saddles. Loren" "Oh, that's practically right around the corner. Maybe I'll have my S2 back together by then! rt" Tom, lemme know if you need any help (with whiskey drinkin' and pointing out what you're doing wrong, anyway). I'd like to meet up at El Rancho Chingadero and ride with y'all. When I got my S2, I picked it up in Hot Springs, Arkansas and it says it'd like to go visit there again! I know 3-4 other S2 guys 'round here that would probably go as well. Jay |

Lake Superior and other areas.
The famous jvv or Jack to us.
Time to run down this problem.... Thanks for running into town and getting those connectors T Bone... Word
Time to hand out the swag. BTW, the Buell Bicycle decals are safe and sound here in Colorado Brankin.
Is this why people in NE and CO thought my Buell was a Uly?
Apparently there was a HOG Meeting at the hotel I was staying at and here is one of the local rides. I liked it and it brought back fond memories of before it was a status symbol to own a Harley....
I76 going East into Colorado sucks and is a close second place for the worse road traveled next to Highway 41 in WI.... However, I was happy to see the sign even if it was from a UHaul.
