Doing the brakes anyone know what to torque the axle nut too should lock tight be used? |

erm ... im tryin to remember i think it was 30 ftlbs.. i gotta look at my manual. i didnt use any lock tight. google 97 s1 lightning manual and download it, its the same for the 96-98 and free. ill look at my manual and post back in about a hour. |

My 95 S2 manual (also steel swingarm) shows 70 ft-lb torque on the rear axle. It says nothing about loc-tite on the axle threads, only anti-seize on the axle itself. |

must be 70 then because i was thinking that too but didnt want you to torque it too much to break the axle seals or w/e , i would go with 70 then :P |

id use locktight. its some cheep insurance and wouldnt hurt. |

Exactly, Can't hurt. Nick before you throw out a number like that please be 100% sure or check. If someone used a too low torque value it could be deadly... |

I put a dab of nail polish on the top edge of the axle nut. Then I can tell at a glance if anything starts moving or backing off. Kilroy |

will keep that in mind guell. I was thinking 70 but wasnt sure didnt want him to over torque but again didnt want him to be in danger either still learnin :P |
