Jack, I think I meant exit 335..... There are plenty of hotels and motels in Mitchell. We had the worse Chinese food I have ever had. It did not matter since we were so hungry. Relax time. |

Jack, what time do you want to hit the road? I think Shane is an early riser like me so we will be ready to go early but I want to delay too early a start. I will call you around 0700 If that is not too early so we can figure out where to meet for breakfast. If you are up before then call me. |

Ha, funny you should ask..... Anyone have 15 amp breakers??? I need three of them. I am using 20 amp in place of the 15 amp...... I managed to limp the bike to Brad's house in rush hour traffic with Jack and Shane's help...... |

Btw, here are the symptoms. After about 20 to 40 mi.es the bike dies. Sometimes it completely dies and sometimes it sputters really bad. Sometimes the starter will not engage after and sometimes it will. It does always start back up after sitting a few minutes. I changed all the breakers and have a cheater ignition switch so if it is not one of those two things I am out of ideas. Frank |

Frank Is the charging system working? Are the battery cables tight at the battery? I have had these loosen before. Have you checked the starter and ignition relays? It could be a coil breaking down from heat by your description, check for any cracking around the coil where it could arc to any of the terminals. A couple of years ago I had an ignition module fail and it gave the same symptoms you describe, after sitting a time would start and run for maybe 5to10 miles and just die,did this several time then finally took the bike far enough apart to change out the module and it has ran fine ever since,do you have a spare module to switch out? Frank I know we are a long ways apart right now but if there is anything you would like me to bring with me to Christmas let me know. I carry a 8 pin module with me, I have a set of front brake pads in my saddlebag incase Shane still needs them I will look in the morning for 15amp breakers, I think I have some but in any case you may be able to find some at a good Napa or other good auto store Ed |

Another thing, remove the point plate cover and look at the trigger plate for anything that looks funny like oozing of the material in the center of the plate that holds the wires in place,if you see liquid oozing from this plate this may be faulty |

We talked about the coil today and it seems to me that it is not enough time for it to cool down. However I am not ruling it out. Ignition module; I did not think about that I think my mine is a 8 pin. We tried napa, auto zone, oriellys for the 15 amp ones and no joy. They must of changed the standard. I am thinking of going by a hd dealer and picking up a coil and ignition mod. The charging systems is good (I have a charge indicator) and we cleaned and tightened up the battery connections. I changed the breakers tonight and noticed it looks to get a better charge now. At least it seems to charge easier or at lower rpm. I had high hopes that this was the problem. |

Frank My cell number is 2three1 2eight2 1six38 I will check it periodically tomorrow for messages as well as this site to see if you have Shane up and running ok. Mike and I are heading out at 0800 from the shop so if there is anything needed I can grab it then before we leave. I will check on the 15 amp breakers |

I hope not Tom since that is my bike and all my stuff. Lol... Jack and Shane are getting ready to head to Christmas and should be there today in the evening. Hopefully they will ride out of the rain. Tony, I am sending th timing covers and coins with Shane. I may not make it but if I can I will head out tomorrow. Of course I cannot think of a better place to hold up for a day than Brad's house.
