Somewhere i read that the Buell IAT sensor is the same unit that ford uses..? Does anyone know for a fact. For the life of me i cant find where i put my IAT!!

Also, the IAT doesnt really need to be placed in the air filter, does it? It could be placed almost anywhere when a similar air temp is, correct?

I am curious about relocating it as well... I found a k&n intake I like for a sporty but it has no spot for the sensor. As far as a ford part? No clue purpony.

Not sure about the IAT but the 02 is the same as the v6 one wire T-bird ; )

Your best bet is to get the intake air sensor in the stream of air going in to the engine.
Avoid putting it where the engine can roast it or where there is a stagnant bunch of air.

This is how you computer calculates air density along with RPM, throttle setting.
There is no mass-flow air sensor.

I have mine right next to the ECM plug tied to the outside of the frame. It reads on average about 5 degrees higher than the ambient. I've had it there for over a year now with no problems.

I had my IAT strapped to the frame near the intake and close to the engine, afv was 117, moved it to behind the headlight, afv went to 111.
since adjusted maps to get 100 afv with sensor behind the headlight with no problems .
I have used an iat off a ford fiesta over here in the uk.

I believe it is, as most parts seem to be Ford sensors. I've already replaced my TPS with one for a Ford Mustang. You can try this one. If you do please let us know if it works.

well... my findings so far...

1996 explorer IAT looks very similar but would not plug directly in. There is a tap on each side of the house so the plug can only go on one way. The slots in the plug itself are even, but the slots on the ford sensor, one is offset. I filed the offset one off and the plug slides and slaps on perfectly. Will have to see how it runs now.
