Ok, so I like to tinker about in the garage when I can't ride... My 2000 M2 runs great but I've collected some XB heads that I intend to send to Wes @ Cyclerama and then install either SE .536 or .575 cams. I'm sticking with the stock pistons and bores for now and run a Buell/Supertrapp exhaust and NRHS intake. Is there any gain by going to one of the larger carbs and intake manifolds? I'm also concerned about how touchy the HSR is when touring at a constant speed. I've heard many state that they respond quickly with power but I wonder how that relates to cruising at a steady highway speed, slight jars due to bumps, etc. I'm running at sea level with no significant mountains nearby. I appreciate any actual experience with either set up and what they offer on a fairly stock, but good breathing engine. Then I would start looking and perhaps have another project for a rainy day. Thanks |

The Mikuni is more sensative to throttle input but not so much that you cannot tour with it |

I plan on going with the CV44 and the 44mm intake that Buell sold way back when... |

I got the Mikuni 42 on my stock S3. The bike runs perfectly with the carb and it has perfect manners on the street. No problems at all. The bike runs better with the Mikuni over the original DDFi that was on the bike. The mikuni has very good throttle response, only downside is mile fuel mileage went from about 60 mpg to about 52. That 60mpg is in 6th gear(Baker XL6) cruising around 60. With my stock DDFI the bike felt like it was running out of breath above 5 grand the mikuni breathes much better. |

I run the SE44 intake and 44 CV carb.w/X1 cams in my 2K M2...Dyno showed 5 hp gain over stock intake and 40 CV on my bike. I could feel the difference when I switched.Perfect manners on the road.Have no experience with the Mikuni set up on a Buell.Tried an S&S but didn't like the throttle response down low....hope this helps. |
