Ladies/Gents I have been hunting around for ideas before but I now have the cash to buy parts. I'm going the way of the 1250 kit but who should I buy this from? I also would like some better valve train components; lifters, pushrods, cams, rockers. I want to make some serious power with this rebuild. Any suggestions? I would also like to know if anyone has any experience with aluminum front drive pullies. Thanks!! (Message edited by m2typhoon on July 01, 2011) |

lots of places to get that stuff from and you can do whatever you want. if it were me, i would get XB12 cylinders/pistons/heads and a set of (203 i think) cams and the billet front engine mount. alot more bang for alot less buck. |

Peruse the knowledge vault and see what others have already done and learn from their wisdom (or mistakes). Check with the supporters of this site also, you're probably going to get better customer service from someone you know is Buell friendly and better results from someone who knows the beast the best. 1250 kit and headwork will probably get you the best results. |

"I have no idea who these guys are." = bad news. Revolution Performance, NRHS, and I thought Cycle Rama offered Buell kits but now I don't see any kits for XL motors. With the cams your M2 has already, you're going to lose bottom end with almost any cam swap. With that being said, X1 cams (.497) would probably be the mildest change, followed by Screamin' Eagle .536, and SE "E" grind .551 cams (same profile as XB cams IIRC) I'm not real familiar with anything bigger than that, but I think you'd be getting into some profiles that will require careful attention be paid to valvetrain upgrades to handle increased spring pressure. Just an FYI.. comparing the stock .497 cams in my X1 to the stock (as I said I believe .551) cams in my Uly XT, I prefer the characteristics of the X1 cam better. It may not produce as much horsepower, but it has more grunt for street riding and doesn't have to be running > 4000 rpm to make power unlike the XB's cam. While you're in there, make sure you eliminate all the common tuber "weak links" such as upgrading to a bronze oil pump drive gear and swapping the spring plate in the clutch with two steel + one friction plate. |

The 2 weak links are a must as I broke both of those in my Sporty in less than 20k miles. |

if you go the XB route like i am, you want XB9 pistons.... not XB12. Im planning XB9 pistons/jugs, XB heads, andrews cams. |

What is the reasoning for the XB9 top end?? |

reasoning here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/626794.html in short, more power for less money, widely available, better starting base to get even more power from. |

I really don't want to turn my bike into mutt so I'm leaning in the 1250 kit for raw power unless someone can show me a set of dyno charts that says otherwise. |

"Hammer Performance 1250 kits on ebay for 700?? I have no idea who these guys are." Hammer is a couple of Buell racers Dan and Aaron. They do the machine work for nrhs including the head porting. |

Hammer Performance is a couple people I know pretty good, but Dan Dunn has always been the one I dealt with and I believe he's more personable, so I always sent my money to his shop. Then all three win in the case of headwork . |
