How are you supposed to adjust the air/fuel mixture screw without taking the carb off ? |

You can get a screw driver in there but not burning your hands is the larger problem. They also make a a/f screw that is a knurled nut also if that would help. Good luck. |

If you have a screwdriver where you can change the tips, pull the shaft and reverse it in the handle and have more tips...you can use that. At least, I have. Of course, this all assumes that you've drilled out the cap that covers the screw to begin with. |

I turned mine when I did the jetting . Never felt the need after that initial setting . Did you rejet it yet ? |

I have not re-jetted yet, but i've been getting some lean surges around 60mph. I drilled the plug and started with 2 1/2 out from lightly seated. On my last bike I adjusted the a/f mixture screw while it was running so you can hear the rpms drop and adjust from there. I hav'nt found a reasonably priced manual yet so Thanx for the help. |

The manuals are a steal even at full price. They are literally "take it apart to a bare frame and rebuild it completely" bibles. Even stock bikes seem to like 45 slow jets; my tubers with the full race kits enjoy life with a 48. |

isnt the slow jet for idle and 1/8 throttle? any rpms over that the main takes over. |

>>> any rpms over that the main takes over. The needle jet handles mid throttle opening; the main jet governs larger throttle openings. |

Motion Pro sells a "Pilot screw adjusting tool" (a 'bent' special screwdriver) that will work, even though it's a bit cumbersome, for $25. They also have a 90° hex-driver that has screwdriver bits. This usually costs around a $100, but on sale right now for about $57. This is the one used by Terry Parsley on my M2 during it's first dyno test. |
