Well I caught some flack about my first sissy bar, so you all have forced me to make it better. I had a back rest upholstered by a local company for all of $70. Court, you are right, I do not have a future in politics, although I am the Governor of Florida. NOT. I had to use the same holes I had, so it doesn't follow the lines of the body work, but after all this work to keep the female happy, she doesn't care and I don't either. However, if I had to do it over, which I won't, I would have followed the body work. That would have required a bunch more work, and I hate doing things twice, more so for three times.
But, either way it gives her something to hold onto besides something that hurts.
So I polished the tubing before I bent it, but I am not really into polishing stuff. You can probably tell by the rest of the bike. I figure no one can tell when you are hauling Buell. Bending 3/4" aluminum by hand gives some bend marks, but I don't care. You won't see them unless the bike is parked and you aren't looking at the 45 Mikuni.
Think of this as something you could do better, if you had the notion.
I would rather ride with my woman than look cool, although re-doing what I had kind of disproves that. Thank you all for your comments. |

That looks more comfortable. Maybe a dumb question... What are the pieces in front of the bars that are sticking out of the side? |

Go into production buddy! There are plenty out there that would kill for a sissy bar.

Jim2, Those 2 aluminum pieces are 1" solid rod, drilled and tapped on the back side, and grooves cut in for bungie attachment. They bolt in through the steel flat bar that you can't see too well as it is painted black to match the existing frame member. There is nothing on these bikes to use to strap anything down, stock. I will drill a hole in the bottom of the round pipe to attach the rear bungies of my seat bag. The previous version with the square tubing had the attachment built in, but as we all know, looked a bit ugly. |

Frankly . . . I think it's really cool that she wants to ride with you . . . and . . . that you took it upon yourself to build something to make that happen. You're a lucky guy. Count your blessings and go ride. |

Nice! Gotta do something to feel safe about putting my little girl on the back; she's got a helmet, gloves, and jacket but I worry about her falling off the back. |

Ratchet strap her to your waist? when we first started taking the fiance's son with us in the bikes we used a bungee strap. mostly because if he started being scatter brained and not paying attention the pressure that started pulling on him reminded him he was supposed to be holding on... |

What i want to know is how the F did she even get up on the bike???? I have to help my girlfriend up onto my bike(s) mostly because she is short. But that is ridiculous. He needs a harley to carry her fat arse around because thats all harleys are good for. Hauling fat people! |

Hey mike consider one of theses harness belts that strap her to you in case she falls. http://www.childridingbelt.com/enghome.htm |

Does anyone in the US make something comparable? I've never seen anything like it. Thanks for the suggestion, I wonder if she's a bit big for that device though, now that she's 70lbs. I kinda like the bungee cord idea, just to help me know (a little better) what's going on behind me. Anyway, not trying to hijack your thread Harold again, it's nicely done, and as far as lines go, close enough. Plus it lets you ride with the lady, if she's willing to give it a go that's a good thing. I gave up on mine and went with the single tail after she complained and hitched a ride home with family following a 35min ride on the old wide, supposedly comfy M2 saddle. (I like my trimmed S1 better than the old M2 seat). |

seems to me on my s1 the only person that would be able to fit behind me would be some 90 lb girl or something lol my wife wouldnt fit but if she wanted to go i would try but she said she wouldnt ride with me no matter what kind of bike i had. so tax time im going with single seat corbin or something cuz this s1 seat really hurts my ass after about 80 - 100 miles |

Well, as an update, she said it was a little more comfortable than just the bare aluminum flat stock of the original. It flexed, so it wasn't that hard. HOWEVER, now she says her neck is hurting from whiplash. I never hit it that hard. Maybe you guys that say you won't ride with someone else are right. I just didn't want to buy another bike, and this was supposed to solve the problem. My HD dresser was just too heavy, especially in a gravel parking lot, but great on the highway. If nothing else, it doesn’t get in the way of getting on or off, and it does help a bunch in holding my seat bag in place, so screw it. Next time we ride, if ever, I will tell her to lean forward, and watch my right wrist more closely. Some things are a learning experience. |

I will give the wife's leg a pat as a signal to let her know when I'm gonna get on the gas hard. Seems to work pretty well for us. She's also a much better passenger since she took the rider course, she's knows what I'm doing up front now and pays more attention. Hellraged, I'm only 180ish and the old lady is fairly skinny, 125ish I think so we fit okay, but with the single seat she's still on plastic as well as seat. We bought the XB for two up riding and in hopes that she would ride it since it's a lot smoother and less intimidating than the tuber. |

Perhaps its time to get the ladies there own ride . Im not a fan of having a passenger , but do like the company . As far as the kids go , its crazy to have them strapped to the rider or the bike .IF or WHEN you go down the kid has a better chance of not being hurt by the rider or the bike. you could always strap a booster seat on the back ? |

I like the rack. Seems like it wouldn't be hard to do a modified one for a luggage rack. |
