Its safe
Cant say max hp, but I know of Buells that've ran a 20 shot with no problem

I mean, you dont want to do pistons or cams, not a lot left to do.
Turbo?
Headwork?
Thats all I can think of

Also - more power - hit a dyno and get a map made to get more power out of it

I like both my tubers but if I wanted more power cheap I'd trade one or the other in plus 2 g's for a '99-'01 Busa.

That's why I keep my 2002 Bandit 1200.

It has lots of power so I can get my acceleration fix when I need it and then go enjoy my Buells for the great ride they offer without abusing them.

If I made my Buells as powerful as my Suzuki it would cost a lot of money and they would be a lot less enjoyable to ride.

why would they be less enjoyable with more power?

Forgot I restricted myself to lurk mode for a while. Backing carefully away from this conversation and leaving it to those who know about adding power to these motors...

What I meant by "less enjoyable to ride" is that a Buell that is tuned to produce really big power will not be as user friendly for all-around riding.

A highly-tuned Buell can produce big horsepower but that will generate more heat, especially in stop and go traffic, and that alone would make it less flexible for daily riding, commuting, or touring.

Race bikes are not that much fun on the street unless you are jamming.

If you want to go faster at lower RPM and are willing to give away a bit of acceleration, taller gearing might be a good compromise.

+1 Race bikes are not that much fun on the street unless you are jamming.

Some days i wish i hadn't beefed mine up so much. But it sure hauls butt.

My ZX10r is more street-able than my X1 is.

Are you planning to track the bike? Otherwise a (reportedly) 130+ MPH top speed is twice the legal limit in most places and if you ever get caught doing any where near the top speed you can kiss your license good bye for a long long time. Just saying...

We wont even go into costs here. But i have spent lots of money and time on my bike and unless you want to upgrade the motor.....Juggs,pistons,Heads and real motor work don't waste your time. The 1250 kits make decent power but that's it not a big enough improvement to warrant doing it.

keep in mind this is done in 4th gear because in 5th the clutch was slipping.

Rpm limiter raised up to 6900 and this is at the wheel not motor. All this dyno tuning is done with ECMspy LIVE!

Live is no different than normal. They just tuned and mapped it in real time using ECMspy.

Sorry to have mislead you.

If you want to feel more power then go buy a used blast for cheap (will be cheaper than engine mods) ride that for a month and then get back on the x1

You can also improve your fuel maps by doing datalogging using ECMSpy. I personally have not tried it (yet) but a lot of folks have with good results. That's as close as you can get if you don't want to invest time/money in dyno sessions.

I'm jealous of all you X1 guys. Believe it or not, when I rebuild my S2 I'm gonna put an X1 motor and harness in it, DDFI intact, jut so I can play with ECM spy : p.

I plan to the opposite direction.

Although my 2001 S3s DDFI and Race Module have never given me a problem, I plan to fit a Mikuni HSR 42 like the one on my M2.

The DDFI works great - but I don't understand it so the switch is not so much for performance as peace of mind.

Irrational? Yes. I plan to do it anyway.
