Thats an S1, I believe it may be a 96. Same bikes both pics. Sorry that there not better. Let me know if you want more and I'll look for some. I made the swingarm for by buddy. Its stretched 11". Its also a rigid, I hit a bump once nearly threw me off the thing. He's got the motor worked over real well too. Runs like a raped ape.

Wouldn't that require you to provide a pic of your S1 first? |

Thats a pretty cool bobber they made out of that bike. I dont have a lot to offer you, no PS help and before the pics above, never seen anyone do anything like it. I'd say if you were interested a stretched arm pics, check out AHDRA pictures, lots of Buells race and many, including myself, have stetched arms on their bikes Buell has a slogan "Different In Every Sense" But sadly many owners think that 'different' is bad Funny, huh? |

S1 - how do you plan to do something like pictured above and still have suspension? Im looking at it and just curious how it'd work, how you could get the seat back and down like that, but use the underslung shock. Please keep us posted if you go through with this, would love to see progress pictures |

First I would have to calculate the travel of the new swing arm probably will need a stiffened shock do to the increased leverage on the swing arm once I have figured out Max compression I will mount the seat of course there is alot more to it. Where there is a will there is a way. |

Um... the photo above looks to me (and I own one) to be a totally stock S1 frame. Swingarm is different. They put a long link in place of the rear shock, giving it a lower ride height (that bike is now a "rigid"). But the frame and bodywork? Stock. Just like mine.

My buddy was thinking of calculating all that, but took the easy road. (Now no roads are easy) I had an idea but never got to try it out: extend the FRONT pivot point of the swingarm back. It will allow you to keep all the same geometry. Good luck finding a stiffer spring. I would think anything automotive would be way too stiff. This way you wont have to deal with it. Also look at the linkage on that bad ass flamed bike Guell posted. You'll need to either move the front shock mount back ( not so easy as there's no frame down there ) or the rear forward. What if you left the front tube of the swingarm in tact, and able to pivot, with the shock mount tab in place. Then attach a rod like the above bike to make up the extra length. Kind of like a carrier bearing on a big truck with a long driveshaft. I'll try to find some more pics of that bike. Worst case I'll just drive over there and take some more. |

Rodent I like your thought I could basically use a busted up frame and use the rear swing arm mount and swing arm. I will have to do some drawings and calculations as far as the shock would not need one with your idea but they are not hard to find fox makes anything you want and I have some snowcross stuff that's about the same size. That's the great thing about metal anything can be done if thought about first! |

What are you trying to achieve? Everything is a trade off. A long swingarm might help uncontrolled wheelies but it will hurt everything else. Might as well just build a (kit bike) "chopper". |

Dave I have looked at every kit there is the thing is my frame is fine so why replace it with a frame anyone can buy. I have the skills to engineer and build just about anything and what u can not do I have friends which can so I am looking at all my options. Why build what everyone has when you can have what no one has. |

Alright - so tomorrow I pick up the kids from daycare, then shoot over to my buddys house where I take a few quick pics, then to McDonalds where the older rugrat will be passified for at least an hour as I upload new pics of the S1 lowrider. They actually made 3 of these. Sold the other two. So check back in 24 hrs. |

The crappy thing about this forum is that it forces you to look at pics that you don't want to see I mean it's actually been known to tie you to a chair and tape your eyelids open. ( I'd like to see the code for that ) Another group of buddies who really aren't very original ( it took all six of them to come up with one theme ) built their bikes to match each others. Kind of a chrome and flame theme. I tried telling them its already been done, but I just confused them. I think Ladybird's got a pic of their bikes on his profile page. Well whatever.....take it or leave it! Always move forward. |

"ps - WE DO want to see more pics. we DO care. Prey is wrong on this one" I tend to disagree. I'm getting more mellow as I age and try to hold my tongue in these threads about cutting up Buell's to make crap out of something that was once a nicely engineered motorcycle. This will be my only post in this thread as I will not get involved in a pissing match and pollute the badweb as some do in the other forums. I do have High appreciation for quality fabrication skills as that is what I have done for a living for the last 35+ years. There was a time not to long ago that if someone posted about chopping/cutting/bobbing a Buell they where tarred and feathered and shot down in flames. Since the shut down the forum has changed somewhat from what it used to be which was for dedicated Buell enthusiast to share knowledge and enjoy these wonderful machines Mr.Buell created. Just my .02 worth. James |

Jramsey nicely put I have no problem with the way you worded that and I appreciate your opinion I to have been a fabricator for 25 plus yr. I think you get it. I have not been posting on sites because of the pissing matches it ruines what they were made for I am just a man looking for options and photos. I love my bike just do not know if I can continue to ride it as is do to a vary bad injury. |

true custom builds are interesting subjects. unoriginal kit bikes that sacrifice the rarer tubers that are still around are exercises in boredom. they deplete unique rides that are already in short supply. tho i understand the reasoning behind using a buell motor instead of building up a sportster motor, i too hate looking at the abominations passed off as "custom". there are other forums that welcome such bikes. there are better places to exhibit such machines. i don't think it is any secret that a majority of members of this forum dislike such builds, and are likely to voice their objections, so don't be surprised.....
