The last couple rides, my M2 has been acting a little snarky; it will bog for a second, then backfire out the exhaust and then pick up and go on like nothing's wrong. Today I fired it up, rolled out in the street and it died. Completely. No lights, no start, nothing. I shifted back into neutral, then switched the key OFF-ON, everything came on and she fired right up. I rode 25 miles without a hiccup. When I got home I checked battery terminals, yes, they were tight. Battery was new last spring. I replaced the clutch safety switch last year and checked the sidestand switch at that time; it worked fine. Could I possibly have a master relay going, or ignition switch problem? I worked the key at least a dozen times after the ride, it seems crisp and works every time. I can hear the relay clicking each time as well. Any ideas? |

Check the coil wire...Sounds alot like mine as it loosened up then fell off on a ride... |

Judo, the coil wire might make it tend to miss and such but the lights and starter would not be affected. |

There are two relays on the M2 under the seat pan. One is for the starter, the other for the ignition. Clean the terminal block they plug into and then Replace both relay. Also clean ignition switch with electronics cleaner spray. See if that helps. |

Thanks; I will try that. Seen a lot of problems in my day, but this is plain weird. |

Guess I never posted a response to this one. Pulled all the fuses and cleaned them with contact cleaner. Problem solved. |

Thanks for that, it's good for the rest of us to know since all of our bikes are getting older. |
