My switch is starting to give me some trouble. I looked behind the cylinder and noticed one of the wires is starting to turn brown. I suspect this is the problem. My question is has anybody had success repairing it. | ||

I masked the symptoms by running the ignition current through a relay so the only current the switch sees is the coil for the relay. Not a repair exactly, but it did solve my starter/starting issues. The starter current normally goes through the ignition switch. It couldn't handle it once the contacts started to go. American Sport Bike has replacement switches that are supposedly better than stock. It's on my list. | ||

I replaced mine with a generic aftermarket switch. That fell apart after a year. I then ordered an H-D XL ignition with the original key code (and a skull key  ) and it's been good ever since. The wires did have to be trimmed back some. It is set up upside-down in a custom CF bracket so that debris and water don't get in there, and so that the key pulls out in the "on" position so that heavy skull key doesn't shake it to bits. | ||

>>>I suspect this is the problem. Start the bike let it idle for a few, then put your finger on the bottom of the switch where the wire's go in, if it's hot to touch the switch is toast. I replaced mine not to long ago and dissected the old one out of curiosity , the grease inside was harder than 50 year old Bees wax. |
