It's not over yet! I took a look in the local Craigslist last eve just to see what may be around. A guy has some X1 parts that don't do me any good, but he does have the shock as well. I'm not sure if the X1 mount works for you. He's going to shoot me a pic and if it looks good I'll send you his phone number. |

OMG! Thank you so much man! I need the middle shock that is in the picture above. The first recall shock. That would be awesome! I really really appreciate it. |

I'm heading down another path. Maybe what I think you need isn't what you want. Since Buell moved to the smaller shock I believe that's your best bet - right or wrong. Others may want to pipe in. This shock would be the 14.5 version. The only addition you need is the correct mount. If this guy has the 14.5 and the correct mount, you're set... if that's what you want. There's simplicity in keeping the size you have and I can respect that. What's right, what's best, and what's financially feasible becomes a debate that will give a different answer for different folks. I didn't get a pic today. If I don't get one tomorrow I may send you the number and you can do with it what you wish. |

I am most likely going to go the rebuild route. ive been talking to the company that gmaan03 posted before and sounds like the best option for me. (Message edited by bassboy3313 on April 18, 2011) |

Easy Rider, did that guy sell the shock yet? I am looking for a back up shock, leaking or not. I want a rebuildable newist version shock for the X1 |

I didn't hear back from him, but I doubt the shock is gone. He had to grab someone elses phone so that may have been a touch hurdle to overcome for a low probability sale. He's got a bunch of X1 parts, and may or may not have the correct mount for older tubers. I just don't know anything about that bike. Touch base at 317-372-0774. The number's in an Indy Craigslist ad so I don't think I'm giving out anything special, here. |

Is there a special way to remove the shock mount bolts? I used a ratchet and a 10mm hex, but they are really tight. WHats the best way to remove them? Thanks. |

did you support the rear with a jack or something to relief the pressure on the shock? I had to tweak the jack up and down to relieve tension. |

Easy_rider thanks for the info I'll call him tomorrow. From what I have read about the shocks a back up is a good idea! |

No I didnt. I just had it on its kickstand. So lifting the rear end relieves pressure? I would think that would put stress on it from tension. |

Yes and no, you have to lift just a little bit to support the rear end. I used a floor jack under the foot peg and tweaked it while turning the SHCS by hand. When they were loose to turn by hand they came right out. |

how did you support the bike while jacking it up? Did you use the left or right foot peg? Also, what is the SHCS? Sorry for all the questions. (Message edited by bassboy3313 on April 20, 2011) |

For starters, I saw a mount for a 16.5" on ebay for $35. Not a steal, not too bad of a price. Did you ever check out what the guy at the phone number above has? |

Thanks ebutch. I've been watching and bidding on those shocks already. Hopefully I win one. I'm sorry hotrats. I havent gotten any of your PM's, thats why I asked. I would have paid this second so you didnt have to wait for funds. Looks like I was too late. Thanks anyways tho. |
