SportyE.. Yes, thats an Alberta plate.. Bike is still there @ my Bros place.. I would consider entertaining offers. 48,500 kms. OEM patina No real history, but fairly OEM Has original signals in box, 1 broken. If you study the photos: Wheels have bin stripped of powder coat Aftermarket front rotor chrome sprocket cover Muffler Funky rack Fairing bags are there, not sure about saddlebag liners.. Supposed to have all keys. some kinda trim on Air cleaner. My nephew road it home about 20 miles said it runs good with no noises.... Thats about all i can tell ya for now.. Reasonable Offers!!!

My back story: I smoked a teenaged pedestrian two week ago. I was initially told that insurance would cover it, now I'm told I have to sue her and collect from her parents house insurance. So what do I do with my bike? Buy another and part mine out, buy another and put mine in the attic for another future project or until I can score a matched paint set or learn to paint myself, or just fix mine and keep going? I need a day and a few pints to work this out. |

Eric what is the rest of the story, was it a human VS bike incident? Dean |

It seems like it's time for a lawyer Eric. I know a great painter in Surrey if you need one. |

Eric, I am a victim of the North Carolina public school system and High School drop out. That, coupled with the different nuances of our common language, has me scratching my head at the phrase quote:I smoked a teenaged pedestrian
I really have no idea what that means. Hope you are ok. The S2 can be rebuilt. |

That is what I was thinking Hank but you have to know Eric. He has a unique way of explaining things. He and Jaci had us in stitches when they visited last summer. |

Nobody's in stitches. Jaci has a cast. Yes. 11 o'clock Saturday night. A group of teens started to cross against the light while we were proceeding through on a green. Kinda like bowling. I might have had the brakes on for five feet from 35 mph so we hit her hard. Thought she got a broken leg but she was already checking out of emergency when we got there after dealing with a tow-truck. Jaci protected me from damage by keeping her hand on my hip as we went down. Two bones in the right hand and whiplash. I'm battered and bruised but almost back to normal (or my version of it.) I need to paint a spare fairing and tank cover, replace spider and header, etc. No collision insurance. No other vehicle to claim against. Standard insurance covers all medical. Work coverage gets me 60% of lost wages. If I had been at fault, Jaci could claim pain and suffering through my insurance. If the girl had run away, we could have covered everything as hit-and-run. But since I did nothing wrong, there's no vehicle policy to claim against. Ironic. So we have to sue the kid and collect from her parent's house insurance, presumably, for bike repairs, lost wages, and pain and suffering (which doesn't create millionaires in Canada.) Idiot kids. Eric, you have have a list of what you need posted somewhere and if so just point me in the right direction. I may have a trashed out spider assembly that would need some work but if you have access to a welder maybe you can do something with it. How is the bodywork, repairable? If you want to send me a list (f_skinner at yahoo dot com) then please do. I am sorry I have not seen this until today but I have not been on the badweb much. Do you have pictures of the damage yet? Good thoughts to you and Jaci... Frank |

And Hank, I am sorry to hijack your thread. I just have not been able to check the badweb much so I guess I need to start going through threads to see what is going on. Interesting rack on the back of that S2T in the pictures. |

No probs Frank..us S2erz r like family here..Yes, the rack is intersting..Aparently that thing flips up to make a backrest as well.. i will find out in the next few weeks as Im making arrangements to get the bike here..or go get it.. Eric, Wow..that musta bin scarey..Ur insurance must be diff in BC than MB..We have NO fault ins here, and both could claim injury as well as yer bike would be covered or written off. Im not sure what i will be doing with this S2t yet, but it looks too good to strip.. Will keep ya posted and make sure you take the time to mend...Life can be short as it is, never mind people trying to shorten it for YOu'se..Hb |

Kind of strange the flip back rest did not end up on the s2t but that is ok by me. That idea was way ahead of it's time but from a strictly body flow perspective I never did like the looks. I loved the functionality. Maybe the s2 was just too beautiful to muck with and an ugly bike design was needed for it to come back (ie uly). I have scratched up the paint on the s2t by strapping stuff to the back of it........ That is one of those mods you remove after the trip..... |

Thanks for the thoughts and input, all. Officially un-dibs-ing on Hanks new purchase. The logistics don't work. Between my current stock of spare parts, plus what I've rounded up locally and from Leftcoastal, I've got my repairs all covered except paint on the fairing. A few options on that, including a PM to Ted. And back on track with Hanks bike. It is the lack of a back-rack that has me wanting to expand the fleet to include something with more luggage capacity. And I agree with Frank that the bike is too pretty to add such a thing. I find the S2 is fine for hotelling trips but can't really do camping when two-up. |

Eric- Glad you both survived. Curious about the collision, always hoping to learn from someone else's experience. Did the kids run out in front of you? Did you see them on the corner before they were out in front of you? Were you just caught by surprise that they were into the crosswalk against the light? No slight on you, shit happens fast on a bike. I just always wonder when I come to an intersection with cars and people which one is going to get in my way. Why do you think the kids didn't see or hear you coming? Or did they just misjudge your speed? Was there any eye contact? I know with cars I can watch their front wheels for movement, but pedestrians seem much harder to read. We have a lot of jaywalkers around here and they seem to have no understanding of the laws of physics. I hope Jaci heals well and quickly, and you also. Shane |

Read and learn, then. 11 o'clock on a Saturday night. My light just turned yellow. I was maybe 30 feet from the intersection at 50 ft/sec. No cars around so I wasn't really on full "light-may-change" mode. Covering the brake as always, but not the horn and highbeam. But it would have been a stoppie even if a car had turned in front. But as soon as my light went yellow, a group of six that I hadn't seen in the rain and dark stepped out. I went wide and hit the brakes. They retreated but for one that went the other way. I can't say if it was object fixation or if I just ran out of time for another course change. Ironically, if I had been traveling at a full boil, they'd have heard me coming. Never bought into that "loud pipes save..." but it would have worked that time. A witness made a comment about drunken teenagers but I don't know if that was accurate. Car drivers said they were just sitting at their red light and saw my bike sliding by in a shower of sparks. So well witnessed, thank God. |

Hank - that rack is cool, interested in learning more when you get the chance. Also, are they Marchesini wheels or Castalloys? Nice looking bike...I know times can get tough, but *try* not to strip it and part it if you can help it |

Joe... Im not sure what ta do with it..Yhe price was right so i thought id grab it up ..Once i get it home I will decide what its fate is..Money isnt the issue, i just thought it might as well be in the hands of someone who is involved with these great bikes..i am very curious how the rack/backrest is mounted etc.. The wheels should be Marchys if stock.. My 96 s2t has em.. I will have my Marchys for sale as im putting the new PMs i scored on my bike.. Time is the bi thing right now as im involved in customer bikes as well as mounting a hack to my bagger.. Hope to get the s2t on may long wknd..may 21.. |
