So I was riding yesterday and went to downshift and couldn't because there was nothing there. Strange feeling. I looked down and the shifter peg had fallen out. For some reason my bike likes to try and destroy itself... Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had one that they are not using that they would like to sell me. Thanks, |

In the mean time, you can grab an appropriately sized bolt and some rubber hose from an automotive store and have a neat industrial looking peg. That's how mine looks, and I'm just going to keep it that way. The head of the bolt really gives my toe some grip. |

Put a SPORTSTER "TOE" peg, ie: PEG, pedal PN 34611-65 on ... Drill and Tap your OEM Lever and use LOCTITE/SAFETY WIRE ... |

Thanks guys! I just ordered one from the Harley dealer for $14.00. I will use a bolt for the weeks wait. I do use loctite on everything I replace but never had the peg off so never used Loctite on it. I find parts falling off is part of the fun of owning a Buell. Keeps you on your toes! |

I dropped my X1 some years ago and my peg was removed. I drilled and tapped it for 1/4-20 and installed a stainless cap screw with a sleeve made from a section of copper pipe. This was supposed to be a temporary fix but I ended up liking it that way |

My temporary allen bolt and aluminum sleeve have been on for 8 years now. Someday I'll put the toe peg back on. |

I buy the rubber toe pegs at the bike swap meets, usually for a buck. I noticed I have about a half dozen of 'em languishing in a box in the shop out back. With a little creative sawsmanship, they can be shortened and re assembled, so the rubber part is only about 5/8 or 3/4 inch long. I use the new, shortened peg on the heel shifter of my Road King, so that ya don't lose the back half of the footboard due to the long peg encroaching into valuable foot placement area. I'm annoyed, rather than surprised, that HFD gets fourteen bucks for something that invariably gets replaced by the usual chromosexual wannabe, with some moronic shiny thing with "Live to Pose, Pose to Live" and gold eagles etched onto it's end. I'll bet your local Harley dealership has a few hundred of the rubber toe pegs sitting in a box in the back of THEIR shop! Won't sell them to us, though! |

Leftcostal I like your rant! The X1 I picked up had skulls and little bells all over, whats the deal with bells??? I removed them all except for the head light, (skull in the reflector) I can't justify paying for a light when it needs paint and such. |

I think the bells are to keep evil spirits away, though I might have that wrong. I'm of the mind that competent riding techniques and skill is better at warding off bad juju than little bells. But that's just me. |

Good riding skills, yes. But what about a $20k paint jobs, I guess that would keep you safe, since the bike would only be used for "display" purposes....... Couple of guys in my neighborhood have bikes like that. They only take them out when the ambient air temperature is between 72 and 85, with a relative humidity of less than 70 percent..... That keeps them safe too you know. So now we know, good riding skills, bells, skulls, and paint jobs keep bikers safe. |

Mine did that and luckily i saw it before it fell out. I used red lock-tite tightened it and have had no problems since. I had my shifters main pivot bolt vibrate out on the freeway. When i went to down shift it was a very interesting and scary feeling. Looking down i could see it had come out like 5 inches. Now i have it safety wired to the clutch cable using a safety wiring kit. The kit has super slim washers that are star shaped and you can bend the edges around nuts and bolts and hook the wire to those. here is a link to some cool safety wiring kits and jigs for drilling nuts also. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/safe tywirekits1.php |

My local HD dealer charged me $3 for the replacement peg. Not sure why they charged him $14. |

charged me $14 too. Wondered why I didn't just keep my bolt and electrical tape wrapped cardboard on there. |

I lost my shifter nub, parked the bike and found 2 other identical ones while walking back to the light. I kept looking because I could tell they weren't mine. |
