How do the mounting brackets hook up? The rear had a funky bolt and nut set up from the previous owner. I want to fix it but am not sure what hardware to use. Is it mounted with a rubber grommet? |

Not sure about that mount, A vance and hines does not last we went thro 2 they just seem to be weak on the X1's we finally decided to give up on V&H and bought a D&D. I found a pic of that mount on American Sport bike and it looks like something is missing |

Gmann, your wishbone is missing both bushings and spacers. They are like small automotive shock bushings, rubber outside with a steel sleeve in.

Yes, as J said - Front hanger has isolators in that upgraded "Y" type hanger you have pictured. Those are Buell parts, not V&H. I can check my parts book and provide numbers later. For the back - sleeved rubber grommet that passes through the bottom of the primary case is used. There should be a hanger included with the V&H. I've got pictures (of the pipe/rear hanger) on my computer at home I can post. Factory "Z" bracket is not used with the V&H. (Message edited by littlebuggles on April 17, 2011) |

Thanks, I thought the rear would be rubber mounted. I fabed a front hanger at work but used Teflon instead of rubber. I will find a stock set up and fix the rear. Send pics of the rear if you could. |

The guy I bought the bike from was not very good at mechanical things. I had to fix a whole gaggle of issues, more to come...... |

V&H as I understand it don't use the Z bracket as Littlebuggles stated. These are the Stainless straps I made for my SuperTrapp, they are attached to the Z bracket which is rubber mounted to the swing arm block. Maybe someone with a V&H will post a pic.

My muffler bracket broke off! They make it with 1/16 alum sheet metal welded on the can. When I bolted it tight(not knowing) it broke. I fixed it by machining a spacer block and fabing rubber grommets to fit into the rear muffler holes. Is the stock muffler hung on rubber grommets? Also I made a new front hanger with rubber grommets like stock. It flexes but still floats while supporting the front exhaust pipe. Hope it works! |

The stocker is mounted like the pics posted above,My guess is the mounts on the Buell Pro Series (made by Supertrapp) was made to oem mount specs. as the stock muffler setup is virtually trouble free. |

Yes I see the straps, but are they bolted into the two holes with a rubber grommet? |

They are bolted solid to the "Z" bracket, the Z bracket uses 2 bolts and 2 rubber shoulder bushings with steel sleeve that goes thru the swing arm block. When I made my straps I milled slots in them for extra vertical adjustment. Notice the primary drain plug is only 1/8" from the muffler,I like mine up tight as possible without it rubbing. I'll take apic of Z bracket and bushing and post it. (Message edited by jramsey on April 19, 2011) (Message edited by jramsey on April 19, 2011) |

Here's the Z bracket and one of the bushings, the bracket has slots for for/aft adjustment but none for up or down which is why I slotted my straps.

I was hoping the parts book would show this in one of the exploded view diagrams. No such luck. I'm working on the bike this morning and will snap some pics of the underside of the bike. |

Note that the steel bushings inside the rear rubber grommets have a directionality to them. I battled a bolt that went 3/4 through and then hung up on "something." Took me a long time to realize that the bolt had to go in from the other side. The threads would clear but the shank wouldn't. |

Thanks! I will post up pics of the bushings I made when I get a chance. |

First pic shows left side upper mounting points (circled) sorry the bracket is still in there. The one on the right is the "loop" I had thought was in the primary but as J pointed out is in the swingarm block.
The second, you can see the back of the Z bracket and only the forward upper and lower bolts and back of the rubber grommet as the shock mount going down the left side blocks the view of the rear bolts.
