Anyone ever thought about routing the breathers back to the oil tank instead of a catch can? Does this sound crazy? | ||

Want water in your oil? Also, if you routed it back to the oil tank, it wouldn't be much of a breather anymore would it? (Message edited by brinnutz on April 04, 2011) | ||

As Wilson said, there needs to be a way for water vapor to escape. Also an FYI for anyone who has considered doing it.. DO NOT route the crankcase and primary breathers together. The primary breather doesn't create any significant amount of pressure/vacuum so it will just collect all the "splooge" from your crankcase. | ||

On a side note... anyone ever redrill the cam case breather location? I'm pretty sure thats the one that splooges the worst on mine. Thinking of relocating it, or at least adding in a opening cover to block the direct path. | ||

I have read about venting the cam cover directly on the XL forums, I will probably do that on my current project. | ||

Yessir. Mine has an XR750 breather baffle coming straight off the cam cover. The nasty, thick splooge comes outa that one. The head breathers just collect water. Sooo, what's this cam case breather you speak of? The only one there on the backside of the cam cover is an oil tank vent. | ||

Rick_a: Have you thought of the next step on the BAFFLE which is a oil/air separator and put a PVC Valve after it baffle ??? BUELLers: ALL BREATHER HOSES, ie: gas tank breather hose(removed the check ball in mine), head breahers, transmission breather, and timing plug PVC should be run to a catch container ... Made my ECONO catch container out out of two black 20W50 plastic oil containers with a 3 inch stand pipe in the cap out of a piece of gas line ... |
