Hey Guys...
i recently scooped some new forks and PM wheels from the Buell NOS blow off stuff on ebay..
Has anyone mounted their forks?
Are they good ta go with fliud etc, just slap em in, adjust and go?
Also a new set of PM wheels...do all my axle spacers and such change over from the marchy rims to the pms?
Im pretty sure its all good ta go, but thought id pre ask before doing the changes..

I did a straight swap pm to m on two bikes with no problem. So the reverse should be no problem.

I think you'll need an adapter for the rear rotor.

No adapters listed in parts book...

If they're fork *assemblies*, they should have fluid and be bolt-on, adjust, and go. Put one on the ground when you get it, upright, and push on it. If it pogos...no fluid. If it behaves like it should...you're in good shape. The fluid is what gives you resistance against the boingy-boingy spring action.

....but how long has that fluid been in there? To be honest, the first thing I would do is empty whatever is in there and replace with fresh - do it while they're off the bike anyway. You'll ride with an easier mind if you do.
You shouldn't need anything for the PMs but use fresh bolts for the disc and pulley.

Joe...Yeah..the forks are complete new assemblies..They feel stiff and good ta go..I scorded a set from the HD dealer buell blow offs along with a rear shock, rear master cylinder, front rotor and a set of PM wheels...Parts are quite cheap, and i dont plan on selling my s2T, so fiutre wear out parts are good ta have...
I maybe decideing to sell my marchy ST2 rims in the fiuture tho as I really wont need em once the pm are installed...
If anyone wants a minty set of wheels that are stock except the edge has bin macnined to polished aluminum, otherwise they are the stock 1996 S2T color...
Thx...Hb

I wouldn't worry about fluid age. Fork fluid "wears" by way of use. Going through the jets and plates is what causes it to change; just sitting stationary shouldn't cause any more of an issue than if it were sitting in a bottle on a shelf. This is why fork fluid change intervals are by mileage, not calendar.

Age-based, you'll see external seals leaking before fluid degradation. See any thread on a tuber shock that's "blown" - the rubber deteriorates before the fluid has a chance to.

Hank,
Count the number of mounting holes in your existing rear rotor and count the number of holes in the PM wheel. I could be wrong, but don't think I am on this one. Unfortunately I'm only taking a peak at the Badweb while I'm printing something out and don't have time right now to hunt down a part number if I have it. It may be that the adapter plate is part of the rear wheel assy. I'll check back in a day or so and do some digging if needed.

Figured I wouldn't be able to sleep without doing some checking. Since the parts book doesn't call out the adapter but does call out a set of additional locknuts needed for PM wheels I'm going to guess the plate is part of the rear wheel assembly. Since the PM wheels have a smaller hub there isn't material for the rotor mounting bolts to thread into and they add the 4 locking nuts, p/n 7603Y called out in the S2 Parts Manual or p/n 7730Y called out in the S3 Parts Manual. Since there's a discrepancy I'd check before ordering. They do both call out the same screw, p/n 3495Y.

PM's are too much like chrome for me, lol...Marchi's on the S2, Castalloys on the S1W and M2L. Sorry. No help here : )

It looks like you're in good shape. The 4-bolt pattern will match what you've got in the Marchi's now. Where the rotor mounting bolts go into wheels now you'll need the locknuts to fasten behind the adapter plate.

Joe - PM's are only like chrome if you shine them right!! I do prefer the white wheels with the white frame, though.

Joe..Ive always bin abit of a chrome bling guy...Anyhow, were PMs actually an option on 1996 S2Ts or just on 95-96 S2s?
just curious..Anyone no?
Also, I will prob put my stock 1996 S2T marchi wheels up for sale once i get the pms installed...They are stock and minty except for the fact that i had the bead edges machined to polished aluminum..
Photos will be avail and open to offers on em as well....TTYL...Hb

The rear rotor bolts right up to the wheel, you just need nuts. The holes for the rotor bolts are threaded on the cast wheels and the PM wheel has a nonthreaded hole.
