I've got a 2000 X1 which the previous owner said the ECM had been "upgraded". The ECM says "BFIUS1", "N0306.Q 99244" and "US15JA120".

I haven't turned up much info Googling this. The parts manual specifies the N0306.QA for the 2000 X1. Anybody know the difference between a Q and a QA?

I got an ECM cable and ECM Spy and tried to load in the map that the guy sent me with the cable, but ECM Spy tells me the data (which says it's for an X1) is incompatible.

Anybody got any good ECM Spy maps for an X1?

I already did a TPS reset and reset the AFV, but I haven't had a chance to ride yet due to lousy weather this afternoon.

You should be able to load the fuel/timing maps but don't try to load the EEPROM. That's probably why you're getting the error message.
Give it a try. If you still have issues drop me a PM and I may be able to help you with the maps.

What was sent with the cable appears to be an EEPROM image, and said it was for a BUEKA210 01-21-00. My ECM says it's a BUEJA120 5-27-99.

I wasn't able to load maps because there weren't any provided -- ECM Spy seems to want a map file to be in .MSQ format and I don't have any of those, just .TXT files which appear to be EEPROMs.

So what I did was, I renamed the first line of the provided-with-cable EEPROM file so it read "BUEJA120 5-27-99" (whereas it previously said "BUEKA210 01-21-00" and then burned the image to my ECM.

Worked fine, but doesn't seem to have made any difference. The bike is running about the same.

If you could send some maps my way (I'll PM you too) that'd be great; I'd really like to try some.
