I finally spent some quality time with the Buell, getting it ready for the 1250 kit and stage 2 heads. The disassembly process going smooth so far, just one more head and cylinder to pull. Here's a shot of the rear cylinder head and the piston. I've never taken apart an HD before so I didn't know what to expect. This is from a 2001 X1 with Race ECm, Force Winder intake and a couple different type of Slip-ons Does this look typical?

Looks pretty standard to me, especially after 45K. Personally I would polish the heads of the new valves just try and slow the carbon build up on them, but that's just me. |

Those rings are pretty tired. The oil wash is keeping the carbon from sticking to the piston crown. You'll probably notice lots of oil/blowby varnish on the ringlands and below the rings as well. (Message edited by jos51700 on November 15, 2010) |

Good eye Jos51700, I missed it on the quick scan of the pics at first. |

Thats absolutely correct, the puke tube always filled. Funny the front shows no sign of oil wash. is that because the rear cylinder is hotter or is this purely a ring issue? |
