Hi as we all know our great and majestic motorcycles are no longer in production
The stealer-ships IMO appear to not give a dam about parts for them and probably couldn't wait till they all disappear, when they do get parts they're expensive and rip us off on shipping.
I propose we start known alternate parts list that we can source locally ie wheel bearings belts switches ect.
I want to keep my S3T on the road till I can't ride not till they make me by a motorized tea-trolley .
Come on rise up these are your bike's not some business moguls pet project.

Good "POINT" !!!

This is why you should buy the FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL and PARTS BOOK for your YEAR/MODEL BUELL before they go out of print !!!

What the PARTS BOOKS do not tell you is what RETRO-FITS with in the BUELL Models(including the BLAST !!!) and the Harley-Davidson platforms ...

Only a KNOWAGEABLE PARTS MAN can help you there !!!

Lets take a tip from the BSA boys. They have parts lists just like this. I would like to know what I can use if HD stops supplying the isolators. My dealer told me that they can't supply starter motors anymore, said the 3rd party parts places will supply.

OK LADS GREAT , I TOO HAVE A BSA 72 THUNDERBOLT, ANY HOW HERE'S MY STARTER FOR THE 98 S3T, THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING ARE 6004 SAME AS UNIT 650 TRIUMPH'S AND THE BELT BUT CAN BE GOT AT ANY CAR SUPPLY TYPE PLACE FOR $8-$9'S THE FINAL DRIVE BELT IS A GATES 14MM HTD 128TEETH, 1-1/8" WIDE THIS BEEN CAN OBTAINED FROM Contact IRG 800-457-1818 DON'T KNOW THE PRICE YET THOUGH ON THAT ONE.

Tuber front wheel bearing 6204 all wheel styles.
Rear bearings are 6205 X 3 for PM wheels.

Rear bearings for the Cast wheels are 6205 x 2, 62205 x 1.

If you can get belts for "$8-$9s" I'm in for 1000+.


Why are you so worried about parts?
Plan on breakin'/crashing a lot?

That is odd since it is the same as a sporty part but I know they have changed in the last few years, being an old Shovelhead guy and am in no way surprised. (it is readily available through the aftermarket like you stated). A Honda Civic starter motor will work (I forget the year but I got one in 1996).

Since this site does not lend itself to archiving data (a least in the Old School section) it would be helpful to have a spread sheet to link at the top of the section for cross referenced parts. (I do not have the time to do that but maybe someone does). We need to talk EZBlast into buying a tuber so he can organize our Old School section. (similar to the links in the Uly, 1125, XB and Blast section (I guess I should say every section save the Old School section).

REX and RoadThing are Tuber guys and Custodian. Send one of them a PM. We could ask Froggy and I am sure he would do it for us.

I think the key is figuring out what parts are unique to the tubers then going from there. Anyone one to tackle that per bike? Break it down by bike, one person does the S1 and another does a M2 etc etc. Once that is started it could be linked but they key is updating it since it would be a work in progress. It would have to have its own thread as a sticky. Updates could be posted in the thread and someone (not me) could update the master spreadsheet then post it if they were a Custodian.

REAR ISOLATORS: off the FL/FX plate forms(good for 40K) ...

Throttle CABLES: off the BLAST P3 ...

FRONT ISOLATOR: off the H-D Big Twin plate forms ...

BEARINGS: from your local bearing supply ...

CONTROL LEVERS: off the BLAST P3 or KAWASAKI Metrics("i" have the part numbers) ...

jramsey sorry mate my bad typing the belts aren't $8-$9 the bearings are.
makes sense that the starter motor is a sportster so is the belt however the hd dealer won't tell you that ,this is great a start lets keep it up .Honda civic makes sense too as the hd electrics are jap (Hitachi I think)
The spread sheet would be great however I'm not very computer savvy.

Buellistic thanks mate great bit of info there i ride the hell out of my bike all weather commuting 75miles a day + evenings and weekends rides. got 43k on it now so thing's are starting to wear out.Did a emergency repair yesterday to my kick stand switch ,engine would not crank so I took a scotch lock and put on the switch cable and squeezed it together with pliers and hey presto bike start's lol
