Now that I think about it, you'll know when you fire it up if you have a bent valve. The compression check suggestion came about halfway through my first cup of coffee... rt |

Chances are good that if the cams weren't being driven by the crankshaft, all the valves closed themselves because of valvespring pressure and no "push" coming from the crankshaft. May have caught a "floater"...but I'd suspect the key failed with valves closed (the force of pushing one open might have been what it took to shear it off). |

It runs! Parts came in yesterday,had 'er purring last night. Thanks for all the help and ideas. |
