If you didn't ride a Buell, what would you ride?

I have to wonder, if/when my X1 dies permanently will there be other Buells available to ride? If not, what else is there worth trying?

I think I would go with a triumph street triple...

I'm a little "MOCO biased" but I would either go with a Sportster (Iron or 48) that I would work over so that the knowledge I gained with the 1200 engine would remain useful, or a Night Rod Special.

Definitely a Triumph. Probably a Sprint GT. (I'm getting a little old to be messin' w/sports bikes for too much longer.)

'Twould be European, for sure. Sprint GT looks good to me, as well as the Duc Multistrada 1200.

For me MV (almost got a Brutale five or so years ago), KTM, or maybe a late model GSXR750, the new Beemers are neat too, any model.

But for me it's hard to say for sure. There's so many great bikes out there, if I couldn't have Buell I'd probably go through a bike every three years or so.

Oh Crap why don't you start buying all the bikes now and switch riding the different ones. It should keep ya busy for years. And if you live in the northern climates ya have lots of time to take care of them or what ever ya wish. My Wife is very forgiving of OUR toys but even I know I do not have the money nor storage capacity of a certain Mr. Leno.

Bert,

My little garage is already full with two Buells, four bicycles (only two are mine) and the tools for fixing them and the cars...

That's why I said "if I couldn't have Buell..."

I'm very happy to have the bikes I have, someday, maybe they'll need to be replaced. I think Erik will have something suitable for me then. But for now I think what I've got will do just fine.

Pk,

Those Ducks sure are fine looking motorcycles, that ST bike definitely is nice to look at and probably quite capable as well, too bad they're not made in the US either...

DF,

When I got my first Buell I was torn between the Monster Dark, the Speed Triple, and the M2 or S1. In addition to the service interval on the Duck, when it came down to it I really wanted to buy American with a bike I anticipated owning for a very long time. Found a good deal on a M2 less than a year old, only 1100 miles and have never looked back.

I like the new Street Triple and the Daytona 675. Very cool bikes. I'd really like to give the FJR1300 and ST1300 a try some day, they seem to be very purpose built tourers. A nice enduro would be cool to have to, like a DR400 or something of the sort. Those little Ninja 250's are nice too, oh, I really like the little 91 Honda VTR, 250 also I think?

So many choices out there.

If anything happened to my Buells, I would probably just go back to riding my 1970 Triumph.

I bought the Triumph 650 Tiger new in 1970 and never really needed anything else.

If I wanted a new bike now I would buy a 675 Street Triple.

PK: Is that Black Duc a production Model? Is that the one that they are releasing specail order in Europe or am I thinking about something else? Anyway.... Beautiful Bike, Can't say for sure If I like the SADDLE but SEATS can be changed!

Lots of us here already have multiple bikes. I bought my Buell 10 years ago when I was 10 years younger and had no kids so my life has changed somewhat. I found that I'd like to have a cruiser so the wife and I can go out and have some fun again. I kept the X1 but added a Vulcan 2000cc to fill the cruiser niche.

I personally like to try out different bike styles and I've been lusting over a Victory Vegas 8-ball for a couple of years now...
I almost got one this spring but the wife lost her job so the purchase is on hold for now...

I know there is some very anti-japanese thoughts on the form but along with my Buell I also have an 03 Kawasaki Z1000. Very good bike but I would like a Moto Guzzi Griso.

For some reason I don't think that there will ever be a shortage of Sportster engines or guys who can weld. I have 2 extra sets of bodywork stored away since those are the only parts I think will be really hard to come by.

However, my next bike will be 2003 Black 100th Anniversary Wide Glide and I am thinking that will be the one that I ride for the next 40 years.

The only other bike I really crave at this time would be something Electric. I think that would just be awesome to pop around on.

I have honestly not lusted over another bike in a while. I have owned Triumphs Hondas and Yamahas....all the while drooling on Buells. Now, after owing a Blast, X1, XB9s and XB12X....I yearn no more! My garage currently houses a Shadow, XB12X and XB9S, as well as my lifted and 350'd Jeep and our mountain bikes etc...and it shall stay that way for a long time. All toys are payed for, and we enjoy them very much! MAYBE someday I will be able to write a check for an Erik Buell Racing machine....but not until the economy makes serious leaps forward.

Ducati, Guzzi, Aprilia, MV, Bimota if I found some money....
Yeah probably something Italian.
Plenty of great Japanese bikes but they all lack panache IMO (at least the new ones)

If you are worried about not having a Buell in the future... go buy a few $2500 X1's or M2's. That should be enough to get you through your life time... thats what I did. : )
