I switched to Triumph in 2003 from my '97 S3T I bought new for my sport touring bikes. When you guys who ride these Buells every day get tired of fixing motor mounts and other stuff that self destructed, check out any of the Triumph triples. They are low maintenance and can rack up great mileage without any major work. The power band is usable from down low up to 9500 rpm. Currently I'm on a 2007 1050 Tiger and I've done nothing to it except oil, brakes, and tires. I bought a low mileage '97 S3 again because it is such a bad ass bike, but it will never be an everyday rider for me. |

I'm with Jeff- I'd ride the blue one . Seriously though, any of the Ducs are sweet, or maybe take a Sportster mill and put it in a Spondon frame. I used to have a Cafe Sporty, and while it was fun, and classy looking, I didn't enjoy it as much as my S2. Now I'm trying to get a sweet S1. |

I like my Buell S3 for the mountain roads, around town I ride my Suzuki DR650, and for longer trips I ride my Yamaha FJR1300. The bike I owned that was as fun as the Buell was a BMW R100rs. |

Speaking of a Spondon Frame, Did you see Arlen Ness's Victory Streetfighter using a Spondon Frame? I think it was quite Tasty! Can be found in current issue of Sport Rider or Hot Bike, (Can't quite remember which, Sorry!) |

Before someone corrects me, It's not really a Victory more of a one off custom but it does use Victory's PowerPlant. I was thinking it was a 103 or 106ci but can't remeber for sure. |

Phelan - same as you. I had a cafe sporty. Got tons of attention, but after $4,000 in AFTERMARKET parts, it still handled and went like crap compared the Buell I really wanted. |

Mark, you and I are cut from the same cloth . We both came from the XLForum, though you've always started with a newer generation model . |

Right after I blew a hole in the rear piston cuz of a grenaded oil pump drive gear. The build that was never finished, just before I parted it out to fly to Detroit and pick up my S2.

I'm sure you would, I have about 2K posts over there, most in the cafe section and motor building sections. I also usually had photoshopped sigpics. |

It's a toss up, either my last winters build (72 Kawasaki H1b with GSXR suspension) or my trusty 74 Laverda nothing like Old School! |

Seems like this is a wide open post concerning anything out there. If your thinking about anything that might compare to the Buell? Check out the Moto Guzzi V-11 Sport. |

Loved Buellbozo's SR 500. Lots of add ons to give that the old Brit bike look. Bought one new in 78, in fact, my first street bike. Its now next on my bucket list. Thanks for the pic. |

Thanks, Lager. SR's are cult bikes in euro, Oz and Japan. Check out the sites "vanem" and "Deus". Great work. checkout my fork brace and fender...Straight from Oz. Yamaha has been building these and sr400s continually for 40 yrs.now.

I'm looking around for one of these, but in better shape than this one that someone has left out in the weather for years near my place: Moto Guzzi EV1100 (Cali). It's not "instead of" a Buell, it's "in addition to," since it's for a totally different riding experience. |

For instance... This and the SR and /6 are several of the bucket list bikes I went through before closing the list with my X-1. I can take no credit for the/5, it was built by an artist (and aircraft restorer) in Shreveport named Steve Culp. Some gorgeous bikes on his website.

That BMW looks like art on wheels with absolutely timeless design. I would have it in my living room any day. My local BMW dealer has one just like it on the showroom floor and I spend more time looking at that than all the fancy cars next to it. |

I bought the /5 for too much money in an attempt to do the relive my youth thing. My first "real" bike was a 71 R50/5, and this one is how I imagined mine back in the day. But what I learned was that first, I didn't like having a museum quality bike that needed nothing. Staring at it was great, but...I just didn't get a buzz from simply having bought it. Next, I found myself spooked about dropping or breaking it. It was too valuable for me to enjoy. It now sits in a collection in Nawlins, with a couple dozen other bikes. Now that I've got my X-1, I've gotta blank canvas, an incredibly undervalued (cheap) machine, and I ain't skeered to take it out and let it skeer the crap outa me now and then. Life is good, Buell is Bliss.
