If the rear axle was adjusted all of the way back and with the belt scary loose, what is the longest belt you could fit on an X-1? 136 tooth, 137, 138? I need to buy a spare belt. At ~0.551"/tooth it looks like 133 teeth is the max. Has anyone tried longer belts on the stock pulley and swingarm?

I tried to use a spare ULY belt on my X1 to get me home.

don't bother that little experiment : )
Wouldn't even move at all.

Ended up having to buy a sportster belt from somewhere.

OK the Uly belt has 135 teeth versus 128T for the stock belt. That is good information to go on. Thanks

Go to your local HARLEY-DAVIDSON Stealership as buy a SPORTSTER BELT,drive-128T PN 40022-91 and you are riding again ...

If you say it is for a BUELL, they will tell you it will not fit, "BUT" it is a RETRO-FIT !!!

DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT Class 101 available upon request, just PM me and a copy is your "ASAP" ...

Oh one more thing:
The Buell tuber belt started off as being the same exact thing as the sportster belt.
They diverged into two part numbers.
The Buell one is different in surface finish and I think it was some sort of improvement.

That doesn't really matter.
What matters?
They both fit and they both cost different amounts!

It's worth asking for a price for each while you're at the counter!

The sportster belt is fine though. my first one lasted over 40,000.

OK, I 'know' this is the same belt as the sportster (more or less). Thanks for the help. I do have a larger front pulley I am thinking about trying (for highway riding) and would like to move the rear axle back closer to the back of the adjustment. Doing the same old thing to the bike is ..... so.... boring. I'm experimenting but with the guidance of the Buell family. I was guessing that someone else here (crazy) may have played around with belt lengths.
