Whats happening guys? Glad i found this place been a good source of info me. Well the first question i have it how come my 99 m2 rear shock doesn't have the reservoir? It doesnt seem to have a spot for it to connect to either. Ive never seen a pic of the one i have. All photos taken with my droidX |

Take a normal photo of it up close, not so fancy schmancy...That will help a lot. Anyways, welcome to BadWeb! |

I think the non-reservoir shock is the 3d generation recall shock...it was internal. |

Joe, but that looks like the 16.5" Showa with the reservoir, but just missing it. How's the bike feel, stiff, bouncy?? Something just doesn't seem right. All the ones minus the reservoir had the funky rear eye mount right? Those got the collars then, am I wrong? Chad, Take a look exactly 180 degrees on the other side of the shock, just aft of the front mount of the shock, is there a hole that's plugged there? If there's not a hole then yes, yours is meant to not have a reservoir. Problem solved. LOL |

Wilson, The original M2 had that shock with no reservoir. This is the one they put the SRP diaper on. The replacment for that one is the 3rd one above. The middle shock above was on the X1's and S3's. Brad |

I think you currently have the original. Have your local HD/Buell support center run the VIN on your bike and check for safety recalls. You might get a free replacement just like the third one in the picture above. Since it is a Safety issue they will do it if it has not already been done. |

Will they still do the recall now that buell has gone under? |

That's the original shock. The bike was sold as a Harley Buell so the chances are good that they will still do it. It won't hurt a bit to call in the VIN number. Make sure you are working with a current Harley/Buell service center and not a standard Harley dealer. |

Congrats, glad to hear you were able to get the recall still. The new shock was noticeably better to me. I believe it has a heavier spring and therefore a broader preload adjustment so it serves for better two-up riding. |
