Must be left bolt broke first and then right under-load snapped off valve-head stand-off to iso. |

Butch, its cast Al. It will weld up nice. May have to re drill and tap when its welded. Broke one on my drag bike, no cracks yet. Scott |

This happened this morning 18 miles from home.Started vibes bad at 60 mph.Stopped checked out and seem motor did not drop that much, and seen motor was being held-up by valve cover Right side casting broke holding it up.Started out for home and found-out that if kept under 30 mph ran good not bad vibes and made it Home. |

Didn't you just change the ISO not too long ago? Could this be caused by the new ISO being TOO stiff? |

Butch ,I went to a solid mount and found out the hard way, a little give goes along way! It just transferred the stress to the frame. Scott |

Velocity, what do you mean "solid mount?" Do you have some pics as it sounds interesting. Butch, I have the new Iso in the S2T and a old one in the S2. Big difference in vibration. I will go back to the "79D and drill the hole." I never really had a problem with isolator life like many seem to have but maybe it is a combination of things. (I sure do not want to start an isolator debate) I will examine my installation method as it might be Operator Error... Let us know if you find out anything about the cause. Frank |

Sorry to see this Butch, Try sending that head to Cyclerama for repair, and BTW the mounting faces need to be remachined after the weldup I have a harder iso on the x1 and a billit mount and new bolts no issues at about 48K miles. |

Butch the cylinder head is some thing that must be done right, Cyclerama will weld up the boss, remachine the hole, surface the mounting pad faces, and deck the head Call Pammy and at least speak to them, the other shop does not work on MC engines for a living, Pammy and co do. They understand the ins and outs of the engine and what to look for. My 0.02$ in that its down for repairs, I would have both heads off and freshened up and I would check that front jug liner for cracking, My front cylinder liner was cracked... I would inspect cylidners and pistons plan on re wringing the pistons, and honeing the jugs om reassembley Its worth the time to go in being that its broke, better to look now, with your milage than to have it die a year from now,and have to do it over, a top end on this engine is about 200$ in parts and the like you need a good ring compressor and the wrist pin tools, BTW get extra clips DAMHIK |

there you have it, the last time I priced an X1 head it was about 350$ round$$ either way have the mounting faces of the bosses re-machined if you repair it. BTW thats a sportster head IIRC may be a bit cheaper than X1 head. |
