OK, so I bought Kim an M2L about a year ago. She put about as many miles on it in the last year as I did today, after installing a new battery. There's issues. Nothing major...but the D205's on it handle like a skateboard (they're HARD) and I need to reroute the breather because I just installed a race air cleaner with no provision for intake-routing. But, it runs great...even if it is a little ...well... LITTLE for me. So in the name of research - 1. Rear ride height. I can change it just by getting a "normal" M2 front shock mount, yes? 2. Front ride height. Best off swapping forks, since I can technically put it "back" to low for her to ride in an hour or so that way. I'd do just the rear...but I don't know that I need it to turn in *quite* that quickly LOL 3. Seat. I need to find a standard height seat, this one a) puts my knees up my nose, and b) keeps sliding me forward until I'm humping the tank. Neither is particularly desirable. My first Buell (first bike, actually) was a '99 M2, standard height. So, I know what they feel like and I know I *can* fit on one. And damn, I love that cam profile! So, if anyone has any of the following available and inexpensive (I don't *have* to make the changes, they'll just make it a more liveable bike for me since I'm the only one who rides it apparently), send me a note: M2 standard height shock mount M2 standard forks M2 standard seat (or aftermarket NON-low setup) The bike is an '01, so anything that fits '99-up should work. I'll post in the classifieds, too. |

Joe, I am the person who bought your textile jacket with the "too long" arms so you know I am tall. Anyway, I ride a 2002 M2 Low with a standard seat in place of the Low seat. The higher seat gives a nice comfortable seat-to-peg distance like my S3T. The Low suspension doesn't present a problem for most riding and the lower stance is actually kind of nice, especially around town. If you do change suspension to standard spec, don't forget to get a longer kickstand. I think the shock mount is the same on Standard and Low models but the eye-to-eye distance on the shock is different. Of course, a Penske with adjustable ride height might solve the problem. Enjoy the M2! ps I like the jacket. Thanks, again. |

Hey Rat, Dave is right. It is not the mount, it is the shock that is different. |

Only problem with the low suspension is, I drag the footpegs nearly as often as I dragged the floorboards on my old FLHP. Kickstand, right. Forgot about that, thanks. And as much as I love my Penske (S1W) and Works (S2) shocks....I can't justify them for the "I'm gonna ride it so it doesn't sit" bike. Yet. Glad the jacket's working out! |

Joe, This is a photo of my M2L with stock X1 suspension and a Penske set at normal to just a tad higher height. Mine's on the left, standard M2 with standard kickstand on the right. I don't think it'll be too bad. I might just leave it, as I don't think it's going to be a problem. So, one less thing you may have to worry about. |
