When I first start riding my 2000 Cyclone it shifts good. After riding for about a hour it starts to become hard to get second gear. It usually hits neutral. I have to pull hard to get it in there then it shifts through all the other gears fine. Any ideas? |

Try adjusting your shifter lever lower? |

As our aluminum engines heat up, they expand. Steel expands less than aluminum, therefore, the primary chain will tighten up. That's where I would start. |

If the primary is too tight the clutch will not cleanly disengage....hard shifting... |

if the clutch is not releasing all the way, (dragging) it will shift hard |

Thanks guys! Not sure if its completely fixed but loosening the primary seemed to help a little. I'll keep working at it. |

A DRIVE BELT/CHAIN will also cause shifting problems if TOO TIGHT ... As will the SHIFTER SHAFT ASSEMBLY ALIGNMENT being a little off ... (Message edited by buellistic on July 30, 2010) |
