I live in SoCal and it gets hot enough to light up my engine light riding around town. Has anyone put on an oil cooler? My Suzuiki DR650 has a big one, and my old Beemer airheads also had them. Why didn't Buell put them on?

I suppose you could adapt an oil cooler from an XR1200.

There are also oil cooler options that bolt onto the oil filter.

>>Why didn't Buell put........

Because the don't need it.

Engine light coming on most likely CHT sensor.

I installed XB cooler on my X1 this Spring, having trouble getting oil temp up.
One side blocked off still only 151 degrees on a 96 degree day.

My S3T with lowers only ran 172 on the same day.

Check the code and see what is stored in memory. I've never seen mine get any higher than 170 even on 100F days with moderate stop and go. I generally "overheat" long before the bike does!
